About Benedict T Palen Jr

Possessing a lifetime of hands-on farming experience and experience with agricultural management, operations, and investments, Benedict T. Palen, Jr., serves as the co-owner and manager of Great Plains Farms, LLC. In this capacity, he provides advice on irrigation and GPS-based land leveling for a 50,000-acre development in Zimbabwe, and he handles the evaluation and purchase of farmland in the western Great Plains. Throughout his career, Mr. Palen has achieved several accomplishments, including pioneering new crop rotations in the Great Plains and bringing into production America’s first orange grove development. Benedict T. Palen, Jr., has spoken at Global Ag conferences around the world on agricultural investment in America, and he regularly provides agriculture consulting services for both a U.K.-based investment bank and a Western U.S. agriculture investment fund.

In addition to his work, Mr. Palen maintains an active presence within both professional and local communities. He was a former board member of the University of Kansas Alumni Association, and he currently serves as the co-chair of the Honors Program Advisory Board at University of Kansas. In terms of charitable endeavors, Mr. Palen supports the Denver Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army. He is a board member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and his local homeowner’s associations; he also volunteers at his church.

Responsible for evaluation, purchase and operation of farmland and grazing land in the western Great Plains for our family company, and investors (see below).Advised on irrigation development, gps based land leveling, and operator training, for 50,000 acre sugar cane/ethanol plant development in Zimbabwe.Brought into production the first United States orange grove development for Cutrale Citrus, the world’s largest citrus grower.Advised farmland owners and potential investors by developing financial models of possible land purchases; conducted on the ground due diligence on the properties.Spoke on US agricultural investment at Global Ag conferences in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and New York.
