Little Hands, Big Hearts, Inc.

In 2008 Basia co-created and became president of the local non-profit corporation, Little Hands, Big Hearts, Inc (LHBH).The corporation is designed to collect, purchase, and distribute toys, supplies, & clothing to underprivileged children in the Gainesville community, as well as raise awareness of the homeless and their needs.It also organizes events, in coordination with local schools, for the homeless to attend at St. Francis Shelter.

Little Hands, Big Hearts, Inc. is incorporated in the State of Florida.

Basia has won two Presidential Service Awards from UF for leading this organization.

Basia is not paid for any of the work she does for Little Hands, Big Hearts, Inc, as it is a volunteer position.

Vice Principal and Co-Founder

John Paul II: School of Polish Language & Culture, Inc.

Basia co-founded the weeknight and weekend school of Polish language and culture in 2005, at the age of 17.It is a non-profit Florida corporation.  From the beginning of the school, Basia has been Vice Principal.

Her responsibilities include: public relations, client/parent/student relations, accounting, the organizing of events, overseeing curriculum, and marketing.

She created the school website

She has expanded the curriculum to include two adult classes in addition to three youth classes

She co-organized New Years Eve at the Hilton (2007) and New Years Eveat the Town of Tioga Village Center (2006), two large scale fundraisers that hosted 150 guests.In addition, she is the head organizer of the Annual Dinner/Silent Auction fundraiser, that hosts approximately fifty people.

The growth and success of the school has resulted in two full length articles in the Gainesville Sun.

Second Grade Teacher and Substitute Teacher

John Paul II: School of Polish Language & Culture, Inc.

During the Spring semester of 2008, Basia was a 1st grade teacher at John Paul II: School of Polish Language & Culture, Inc.  She is now teaching the 2nd grade class, for the Fall 2009-Spring 2010 school year on weekends.

As part of her teaching position she has designed and taught the first grade curriculum with the goal of teaching the Polish language and culture to children in a thought provoking and fun manner.

In addition Basia is a substitute teacher for the two other youth class at the school.

During the summers Basia lead a 6 week, 2 hours per week, Polish theater camp for youth, which incorporates music, art, acting and the Polish language.

Private Piano Lessons and Musical Theater Lessons Teacher

For four years and continuing, Basia has been a self-employed piano teacher and musical theater trainer.

She teaches both beginning and intermediate piano to youth and adults.

In addition, she train high school students for musical theater competitions.

Since May 2005 I have taught over 20 piano students and her business is still growing.She teaches both from home and rent an office at Parramore Music, Gainesville, FL.

Sister Hazel Angel of Mercy Ministries

Basia began volunteering with Sister Hazel Williams in the fall of 2006.  For about two years, Basia fed the homeless regularly on weeknights downtown and on many weekends at St. Francis Shelter in Gainesville, FL along with Sister Hazel. 

Since the summer of 2008, Basia's organization Little Hands, Big Hearts, Inc. has coordinated with Sister Hazel Angel of Mercy Ministries to collect and distribute gently used items to the homeless in SE and NE Gainesville.

After recently receiving a Pilates Instructor Certification from Evolve Pilates in Gainesville, FL, Basia has begun teaching adult private Pilates lessons.  In addition, she teaches Pilates to children at Sun Country in Gainesville, FL.

UF POE Center for Business Ethics

Basia's position at the University of Florida POE Center for Business Ethics is that of an assistant or intern.  She spends hours weekly  researching journal articles about the relationship of environmental sustainability and business practices and profits.  She also researches the relationship between sexual harassment and business networking and/or mentoring.  Finally, she assists in preparing for Business Ethic conferences.

Legal Intern

RTI Biologics, Inc.

Basia works as a legal intern at RTI Biologics, Inc., the leading provider of sterile biological implants for surgeries around the world.  Most of work is in the realm of discovery for litigation.  As part of work Basia attends legal and business meetings, holds a weekly litigation task organization meeting, and reviews interrogatories.  Though primarily in the Litigation Department, she frequently collaborates with members from both the Contracts Department and the Intellectual Property Department.

UF Polish Student Association

For two years Basia was the head coordinator of the UF Polish Student Association events and was president of the association.

As part of her duties, she led club meetings, met weekly with the UF Center for European Studies faculty, planned and successfully executed monthly events as well as the two largest annual events: Polish Night and Polish Christmas Eve (each with a yearly attendance of about one hundred people).

She was responsible for spreading awareness of Polish culture on campus.

Some of her proudest accomplishments with the association include significantly increasing the number of member, the amount of activism in the club, and the funds received for Polish culture activities from the UF Student Government.

All of the work done for the Polish Student Association was volunteered.

Catechism Instructor (Volunteer)

Queen of Peace Church

Basia taught middle school students Catholic catechism during the weekends of the Fall 2007 semester.

Her job included preparing the lesson plan, teaching the catechism, and interacting regularly with students’ parents.  All of the work done as a catechism instructor was volunteered.

  • She writes novels and non-fiction books, and has published The Skinny Manual for Organizing a Dinner-Dance Fundraiser.  Basia is currently working on two murder mystery novels and a self-help book entitled 24 Hours.
  • She attends weekly Pilates lessons and tennis practice.  Basia is also a certified Pilates Mat instructor.
  • Basia attends monthly (sometimes weekly) cultural performances (theater, dance, and orchestra).
  • She travels frequently, especially to Poland, and speaks Polish fluently.
  • Basia is currently learning the History of American Literature, The History of English Literature, and Literary Theory, in her free time.
  • Basia plays piano daily and sings for enjoyment.
  • She organizes and leads monthly book club meetings, as well as monthly classic movie club meetings (approximately 15 members in the club).
  • One of her favorite activities is cooking and exploring different cuisines.
