A distinguished orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Barry Silverman has dedicated his more than 35-year medical career to improving lives in South Florida and beyond.
For nearly three decades, Dr. Silverman treated patients at the OrthopaedicCare Center of South Florida, which he also helped found in 1974. He served as board president for 23 years and also as a chairman.
Previously, Dr. Silverman co-founded and served as Vice Chairman of CareFlorida Health Systems for five years, until 1994 when the business merged with California-based Foundation Health Systems.
Dr. Silverman has also had a lengthy history of philanthropic work and volunteer service, including work with the Easter Seals Society of Dade County, Easter Seals Society of Florida, the Dade County School System, Miami Orthopaedic Society, Barry & Judy Silverman Foundation, Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Nova Southeastern University, American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Camp Ramah Darom and Mount Sinai Medical Center.
His work has earned awards from Nova Southeastern University, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and the Easter Seals of Florida. In 1998, the City of Aventura and Miami-Dade County even created Barry and Judy Silverman Day in honor of their involvement with the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center.
