Prior to 1996, I made my living as a traveling freelance stage manager working mostly in Opera, Theatre & Dance.

After spending 6 years as a Production Manager and Account Manager in the Events Group at TPN I migrated over to manage our Media Technologies groups which include Show Technology and Interactive Media.  While still producing major events, the work I directed for these groups focused on Broadcast and Webcasting, Custom Software Application Development, and Custom Technolgy solutions for interactive environments.

I spent my first 6 years at TPN working in the Events Group as a Project Manager and Account Manager.  During that time I produced events, exhibits, touring road shows, and traveling exhibitions both small and large.  My clients included Boeing, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Toshiba, Samsung, American Eagle Outfitters and others.

Young Artist Program & Education Department Manager

Seattle Opera is the State of Washington’s largest non-profit arts organization, producing a year round five opera main stage season. During my tenure, Seattle Opera conducted an annual 20 week professional training program for singers aspiring to a career in opera. Funded in part by a Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest grant, the program offered classes in stage craft, repertoire and languages, as well a touring program, and a fully staged and produced opera. Additionally, Seattle Opera Education Department produced over 200 educational and public outreach events each season throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival

The Seattle Theatre Fringe Festival presented an annual ten-day performing arts event involving an average of 85 self-producing participant companies, performing in eleven venues across several Seattle neighborhoods. Key responsibilities included: Management of all Production Budgets. Design and fabrication of 11 performance venues and Central Box Office including the conversion of non-theatre spaces into viable performance venues. RFP and contract process for outside service providers. Acquisition of all Production materials including rental of lighting, audio and video packages. Development of Festival rehearsal and performance schedule. Hiring, contracting and supervision of all Festival production staff and labor. Collaboration with the Company Director to disseminate Festival production information to 85 participant companies. Consultation with participant companies regarding the technical needs of their production.

Seattle Opera Technical Department operates a full service Scenic Studio that designs and builds projects for Opera, Theatre, Film and other events.Key Responsibilities included: Tracking and management of all Technical Department and Scenic Studio income and expenses, management of all vendor and service provider accounts and supervision of vendor relations, administration of Technical Department IATSE Stage and Scenic Studio payroll, coordination of travel and housing for Designers, Scenic Artists and Technical Supervisors, administration of Rental Agreements for the Seattle Opera Set Rental Program and build contracts for the Scenic Studios, and general administrative support to the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Directors

Intiman Theatre

Intiman Theatre is a LORT C theatre that produces a six show season, May through December. Key responsibilities included: Processing and maintenance of Production Department payroll. Budget management for Production Department. Hiring and contracting of Assistant Stage Managers, crews and interns. Contracting and rental of off-site rehearsal spaces. Liaison for Seattle Center for the use of the theatre space during city festivals. Production Management of new play reading series and educational outreach programs.

Glimmerglass Opera

Glimmerglass Opera, an internationally-renowned summer opera festival dedocated to producing four innovative new productions in repertory each July and August. The company’s mission is to produce new, little-known and familiar operas and works of music theater; to promote an artistically-challenging work environment for young American performers; and to engage important directors, designers and conductors who provide high standards of achievementKey responsibilities included: Hiring of Interns for Production Departments. Coordination of Internship Workshop program and Designer portfolio review. Administration of budgets for all Production departments. Daily repertory rehesrsal scheduling. Contracting, coordination and scheduling of all rehearsal spaces for the repertory season. Recruitment of chorus and supernumeraries for all productions in the repertory season. Production Management and Technical support for the Young American Artists Program tour.

OPERA America is the national service organization for Opera comprising an international membership of 300 producing companies promoting excellence in performance, arts in education, and arts advocacy. OPERA America’s coveted Fellowship Program was a year-long program designed to train future industry leaders by offering participants extensive practical experience in the areas of Production Management, Stage Management, Technical Direction, and Arts Administration through assignments at three OPERA America Professional Member Companies.Residencies at: Opera Pacific, Costa Mesa, CA; Lyric Opera Cleveland, Cleveland, OH; Seattle Opera, Seattle, WA.
