Based in Amityville, New York, Avi Polischuk has become a leader in New York City design-build residential high-rise projects over the past 15 years. As the president, owner, and chief executive officer of R&S United Services, Polischuk runs a company that is responsible for multimillion-dollar budgets and a staff of more than 100 people. When competing for a project, he bids on design drawings from major developers throughout the city and makes his own engineering recommendations. His firm has overseen the HVAC, piping, and sheet metal work on numerous structures throughout Manhattan. Moreover, Avi Polischuk goes against the New York City building market trend, which has favored non-union builders over the past several years, by becoming one of the only major mechanical contractor in the city to gain market share for the unions.
One of Polischuk's recent projects is the luxury condominium high-rise tower located at 551 West 21st Street. Awarded to Avi Polischuk’s firm in December 2013, the building involves a 250,000-square-foot facility that is nearly 300 feet tall. Prior to winning the contract, he dedicated nearly two months to developing value engineering alternatives with the construction manager, design consultants, and owner. These meetings enabled him to develop cost-effective value engineering solutions that provide high-quality construction and energy efficiency. Additionally, Avi Polischuk received the support of a sheet metal workers union and a steamfitters union to successfully obtain a competitive bid.
