An experienced medical professional, Avery Dela Cruz Malate is an RN with specific expertise in case management as well as the oversight of Medicare billings, management of PPS and on-site quality improvement. He possesses skills in processes management and presentations and is the recipient of various professional awards that recognize his medical excellence. He works for one of the leading long term care management consulting providers in California as Regional Director at its Utilization Services Department. As the father of two children who are diagnosed with Down's Syndrome, he is also very active in organizations that work for improvement in their lives both in California and in his native Philippines.
Beginning Work in Medical Positions
As an entry into the field of medicine, Avery Malate began working for Vital Care America, where he worked in the rehabilitation care unit. Along with performing medical procedures such as IV lines and venipunctures, he also audited the organization's documentation, he carried out thorough clinical assessments on the patients and he studied and initiated new quality management programs. He was also responsible for setting a high standard of programming for the institution as well as planning and coordinating the overall development of the staff that included its training. After two years on the job, he began working for SNF Management's Windsor Healthcare, where his position was that of the managing care for its residents and regional director. During his five years of work there, he took over the duties of clinical reimbursements and the profitability of Medicare. He managed cases and he monitored the current trends so that he could point out new areas where the organization could enter and grow. He arranged the training and support for the company's 28 facilities that were located in the state of California and assured that they complied with the Resident Assessment Instrument's strict guidelines. He also arranged training for the staff and performed the Training Needs Analyses. He was later hired by Country Villa Health Services to be the Director in Clinical Reimbursement as well as RAI. With this new position, he took on the responsibility for some 40 nursing locations throughout California and he was its Regional Director.
A native of Manila in the Philippines, Avery Dela Cruz Malate first began learning at the Emilio Aguinaldo College, where he graduated with a BS in nursing. He won numerous awards, including a clinical excellence award during his BSN degree. He continued his studies towards a Masters of Science in Nursing at Walden University, where he graduated in 2010.
Membership in Professional Organizations
With a heart towards wanting to help all special children, Avery Malate is a member of Down's Syndrome Societies both in California, where he lives today, and in his home country of the Philippines. Professional memberships include his former membership in the American Assoc. of Nursing Assessment Coordinators as well as belonging to the Palmetto Provider Outreach Education group. He is also a former member of the American Assoc. of Nursing Executives. In addition, he is a third degree master mason and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
