Asha Pabla

Asha Pabla Transitioned from Fabric Production to Fashion Design

About  Asha Pabla

In preparation for a career in the garment industry, Asha Pabla earned a BS in textile design and interior design from the Philadelphia University College of Science and Textiles. During the final year of her studies, she worked in sourcing and production management positions for the fabric manufacturer and importer Pressman-Gutman. She received honors for the originality of her designs upon graduation and, shortly thereafter, attained a position as a manager for Miliken & Company. Promoted to senior manager within one year, Asha Pabla supervised fabric quality and design specifications for three production lines staffed by 45 employees.

After completing an associate degree in interior design at the Parsons School of Design, Ms. Pabla joined Liz Claiborne. As a New York City-based fashion designer, she tracked trends around the city to develop innovative fashion ideas and monitored the quality of such features as stitching, shaping, and fabric color for her designs.

Complementing her professional pursuits, Asha Pabla serves on the boards of directors for the American India Foundation and the South Asian Youth Association. She has traveled widely and in the last five years has visited such destinations as India, Brazil, and Barbados, among others.
