The Department of Materials Science and Engineering offers graduate work leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The motivating philosophy of the graduate program is to provide the student with a broad synthesis of the theoretical and experimental techniques required to work with all classes of materials.

Arun conducted research for his thesis under Prof Herbert Carleton. An NSF grant allowed him to conduct experiments on the Cornell National Supercomputer Facility to research energy transmission in inhomedenous medium.

The University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, popularly known as UVCE, is an engineering college affiliated to the Bangalore University, and is located in Bangalore, India. The college was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The college is approved by the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. The departments are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

The department of mechanical engineering was established in the year 1921. It was the first department in the state of Karnataka to offer a course in Mechanical engineering. This department offers PG courses in various fields. This department has a very good faculty. This department also supports many students to attain their research degrees.The department offers excellent lab facilities to students. A few labs of this department are the envy of many competitive engineering colleges. The CAD/CAM and Robotics lab is among the best in the country.

Arun is an award-winning member of the Senior Management team at L-3 Communications STRATIS division. He is a Solutions Architect in STRATIS’s Delivery Excellence group and has successfully led the division in winning over $2 billion in new business. Arun’s clientele includes Intelligence, DoD, Civilian, State, International and public-private enterprises. He is L-3’s first certified ITIL Expert. In his role, Arun advises client CIOs on operational transformation initiatives develops solutions and win-strategies for large IT transformation proposals and offers leadership in internal and new business initiatives. Arun has an active Secret clearance. Prior to L-3, Arun founded and grew his own IT Company, was a Senior Manager in Accenture’s Government ERP practice. Arun started his career as a ground specialist for High Energy Astrophysics experiments conducted on the Space Shuttle during his years at NASA. Arun’s early exposure to applied technology combined with rapidly progressive responsibilities in practice development, thought leadership, collaborative team building, business ownership and client account growth uniquely equips him to handle the breadth of challenges faced by modern, technology-driven global enterprise. Arun has a Master’s in Computational Materials Science from Stony Brook, NY and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from India.
