Arcesium India

Arcesium is a SaaS post-trade technology product, and professional services firm. Built on AWS, it combines proprietary software, technology, and an experienced team of professionals to deliver complete post-trade support. It is designed to optimize the daily and monthly middle- and back-office processes of alternative asset managers. I serve as the Chief of Staff, India, for the CTO, and work closely with various engineering and product management teams, apart from Finance and HR. I also own several strategic management initiatives and platforms within  the Technology organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Came up with the concept, and bootstrapped the business
  • Product Owner and Manager: I was responsible for the complete product strategy, wherein I constantly made sure that the offering was in line with market needs and commercial requirements 
  • Architecture and Development: I had myself coded the MVP front-to-back. Then, with a larger team, I was the Chief Architect and designer of the product while also developing several modules 
  • Sales and marketing: I was responsible for creating and executing end to end marketing and sales strategies.

I ran several programs for PWM's Portfolio Accounting & Performance Reporting functions, and then globally headed the Client Management team. Additionally, I had the leadership responsibility of the entire PWM team in Bangalore. I had global ownership of our systems and functional, business facing responsibilities for the APAC and EMEA regions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for Client Management functions for Private Wealth Management, Asia and Europe.
  • Delivery ownership of several programs within Portfolio Accounting & Performance Reporting function of PWM 
  • Responsible for all business systems for our Swiss Bank in Zurich 
  • Have successfully executed mission critical technology programs, including rolling out of new Financial Products globally, re-engineering Product Taxonomy, engineering tools for regulatory compliance etc. 
  • Responsible for outsourcing and vendor management for the division.
  • Participated actively in operations and administration.
  • Led the India-wide Events Committee, that helps with employee engagement as well as philanthropy initiatives. 
  • Was the co-lead of the Bangalore Connect group, which is responsible for working with HR and Admin for on boarding new joiners, as well as establish platforms for cross-team networking in Bangalore

Select Achievements:

  • Successfully led a multi-million dollar initiative, which built technology platform to offer secured financing capability to our clients with significant debit balances, through re-hypothecation of their assets
  • Implemented a structured program to on-board new products in Private Wealth Management. A couple of notable success stories are Complex Commodity Derivatives and Offshore Chinese Renminbi (CNH) products.
  • Led the rewrite of data ingression module of our Portfolio Accounting engine 
  • Globally led very large technology programs across PWM/IWM to migrate tens of Visual Basic applications to .NET, and ensure compatibility to MS Windows 7 platform. 
  • Globally led IT Risk related initiatives across PWM/IWM, including data masking and security remediation. 
  • Re-designed a portion of New Account Opening platform that improved process efficiency by over 25%.
  • Led a team that re-engineered our entire Client Data and CRM platform, working with several IT and business teams globally 
  • Played a key role in the rapid but smooth ramp up of our Bangalore presence from zero to 700 in two years. This included recruiting, help establish processes and policies, training, on-boarding etc.

Joined this global investment leader as a Project Leader in November 2004 and was promoted to Associate Director about two years later. I had global ownership of the Portfolio Accounting platform and Broker Straight Through Processing. I also managed the Usability Engineering team, as well as the Project Management Office (PMO). 

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily managing technology initiatives of the organization, including mission critical technology projects and programs.
  • Accountable for Operations of & Delivery from the Portfolio Accounting, STP, User Experience Engineering and the Project Management Office.
  • Additionally responsible for Marketing Communication, including advertising, campus promotions and other external communication. 
  • Implementing various new technologies phasing out various legacy systems, including Portfolio Accounting, Straight Through Processing and Financial Reporting suite.
  • Developing the Creative Services department, almost from ground-up, involving interaction designers, visual designers and technical writers.
  • Involved in control of outsourcing and interaction with external consultants.
  • Participating in operations and administration of the firm.
  • Performing routine team administration tasks as well as team development initiatives, including recruitment and career management

Select Achievements:

  • Implemented Advent Geneva to phase out legacy home-grown portfolio accounting system. 
  • Developed and implemented the SWIFT capabilities for the organization.
  • Managed the team that enabled Third Party Administration of the firm’s funds. 
  • Built a successful global User Experience Engineering practice, almost from scratch.
