Head of School

Shalhevet High School

Strategic and Financial Planning/Fundraising

  • Created the school’s Strategic Vision and Plan in preparation for refinancing of current site and likely capital campaign.
  • Met directly with donors to solicit for formal annual and capital campaign include multiple six-figure and seven-figure gifts.
  • Prepare and oversee budget of almost $7,000,000.
  • Lowered costs by over 10% through increased faculty utilization rates
  • Balanced budget in all years running the school after numerous consecutive years of seven-figure deficits

School Leadership and Faculty Recruitment

  • Recruited almost entire new Judaic Studies staff who represent the school’s values and philosophy
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate all Senior Administrative positions including General Studies Principal, Judaic Studies Principal, Executive Director, Director of Development, Director of Admissions and Chief Technology Officer.
  • Recruited “superstar” General Studies faculty members to fill vacancies.

Community Representation

  • Represent Shalhevet at public functions in the broader Jewish community
  • Foster relationships with local and national Jewish organizations and donors.
  • Meet individually and in groups with families regarding enrollment at the school.

Strategic and Financial Planning/Fundraising

  • Created the school’s first ever Strategic Vision and Plan (Plan For Excellence)
  • Met directly with donors to fundraise for annual campaign 
  • Raised an additional 1.6 million dollars, including a seven-figure commitment, to support Plan For Excellence, double previous annual fundraising for the school.
  • Prepare and oversee budget of over $4,400,000.
  • Helped secure grants through the Gruss Foundation, Legacy Heritage Foundation, Brown Foundation and Yeshiva University. 

School Leadership and Faculty Recruitment

  • Recruited and hired and now lead, supervise, and evaluate all Senior Administrative positions including General Studies Principal, Judaic Studies Principal, Executive Director, and Director of Development.
  • Recruited “superstar” General Studies faculty members and Judaic faculty members who represent the school’s values and philosophy.

Faculty Supervision

  • Coordinate all aspects of academic supervision including developing and implementing teacher supervision documents and calendar,
  • Organize curriculum mapping process

Creative Programming

  • Developed a number of innovative programs including partnering with Camp Moshava to create a day-camp pilot program for “out-of-town” communities.
  • Created, planned and developed the first Head of School Retreat and Conference in partnership with Yeshiva University.

  • Created and taught an innovative and unique formal curriculum in Jewish Philosophy.
  • Developed “Alternative Assessment Exercises” to enable all students, regardless of learning style, to demonstrate mastery of material.
  • Implemented a new curriculum in Jewish Dietary Laws for 9th grade students.

Administrative Council – 2003 to 2004

  • Participated in inter-disciplinary administrative meetings focused on global school issues such as discipline, calendar and curriculum.

Director of Student Programs - 1998 to 2004

  • Developed and implemented comprehensive student activities plan, including Shabbatonim, seminars, field trips, weekend conventions, and extracurricular activities.
  • Developed and implemented numerous programs designed to inspire students to lead a meaningful life guided by Torah Judaism (chagigot, mishmar, mussar club, “tikkun leyl” learning nights, etc.)
  • Created multi-media sessions, utilizing digital video editing software, for student programs.
  • Served as supervisor of Student Government Association.
  • Negotiated contracts with a wide range of service providers including convention centers, hotels, caterers, and transportation companies.

  • Led practices and games for 18 boys in grades 9 and 10.
