Presently, I am working at LUMS as Senior In-house legal counsel. Prior to joining LUMS, I have worked at Zafar and Associates - LLP as an Associate Attorney where I gained considerable amount of experience in the fields of Intellectual Property, Contract, and E-Commerce.

I have also served as legal research associate to Justice (R) Nasira Iqbal - a renowned legal personality and a philanthropist in Pakistan. During my service with her, I worked on several documents including Pakistan’s initial State reports on United Nations Treaties i.e., the ICCPR and UNCAT.

I also worked with different Non Profit Organizations and have played key roles in the organizations that I have worked with, for instance, I have served as District Chairperson Publications at Rotaract International District 3272, and Executive Director at Hollaback! International (Lahore).

Senior In-House Counsel at LUMS

I joined LUMS as In-house Counsel in January 2017, and now have been promoted as Senior In-House Counsel in January 2019.

At LUMS, I am responsible to, 

-review and draft agreements including but not limited to Sponsorship Agreements, Grant Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), Confidentiality Agreements, and Consultancy Agreements to be signed by and between LUMS and external stakeholders. Major agreements may include, but not limited to, Agreement between Ignite and LUMS for the establishment of National Incubation Centre at Lahore and other one at Quetta. Also, the Agreement between KP Govt. LUMS for the establishment of Incubation Centres at 9 different universities at KP. 

-maintain and update policies related to sponsored programmes and research applicable at LUMS.

-manage all Intellectual Property (IP) related matters, including patent, copyright, trademark drafting and filing with IPO (Pakistan), WIPO and IP Offices across the world and also to facilitate commercialization of IP at LUMS.

-follow up on opportunities for applied research and explore opportunities for technology transfer and the commercialization of university research (including incubators and research parks).

-manage and organize IP related events, workshops and seminars.

- guide and train in legal matters the startups based at National Incubation Centre, Lahore

Apart from that, I am representing LUMS at Technology and Innovation Support Centers Network Pakistan as focal person.

Patent & Trademark Attorney with expertise in IP portfolio research, cross-border technology transactions, licensing agreements, product clearance, freedom-to-operate, patent infringement & validity (Patent Invalidation) analysis, research & opinions. Core practice includes trademark, copyright and patent drafting, clearance searches, drafting office action responses for USPTO, EUIPO(OHIM), IPO-Pakistan, IPO-Bangladesh, NIPO-Srilanka, IPO-India and IPO-Afghanistan. Have advised clients in structuring and negotiating transactions in which they exploit their intellectual property rights or in acquiring them from others.

Drafting of co-operation Agreements, License Agreements, Franchise Agreements, Infringement Suits, Legal Notices, Cease and Desist Letters, Distance Contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements, IP Protection, briefing documents, business policies, memorandum, and other legal documents have also been her core areas of expertise.

Her network of clients includes some of the top notch companies, such as Subway International, Master Group, Super Asia, Harbinger International, Orient Electronics, The Vitamin Company, Medipak, Murree Brewery, Geepas (UAE), Sparco Paints, Tara Crop Sciences, Silver Star Group (Nike Football Manufacturers), Master Paints, Citropak etc.

Responsibilties in this portfolio include maintaining the club's relationship with it's sister clubs overseas, maintaining and growing the club's micro-finance fund, organising events that promote international understanding and other cultures, promoting events for members to attend, including Rotaract conferences overseas.
