Workplace Wellness

I am very passionate about wellness promotion and involvement in the workplace.  I was in on the ground floor as the Wellness Program started at the Department of Children and Families.  I have contributed to research, pulling white papers on the benefits of workplace wellness programs, and attending Working Well meetings in Tallahassee.  I worked actively in developing applications and waiver forms for the administration program, and established weekly on-site activities such as Zumba, Yoga classes, Wellness Challenges, Seated Massage, and Lunch and Learn presentations.  I implemented, analyzed, and developed the report for our annual wellness survey, which you can see in the sidebar on the right as a work sample.  I also participated actively in planning and implementing our large annual wellness fair (over 45 exhibits).

Social Media Strategy

I have recently taken several trainings and stay current on the world of social media strategy for nonprofits and social services.  This rapidly growing and changing landscape of outreach and garnering support for organizations and causes is fascinating and offers a lot of opportunities for those who are able to navigate it.  Unfortunately, many groups jump on the bandwagon without planning a clear social media strategy, which can lead to overwhelming supporters and making them disinclined to continue support.  However, taking the time to craft a flexible yet focused strategy can ensure that messages are on point and supporters are mobilized and encouraged.

Website Design

I have experience in designing and upkeep of websites using HTML and CSS.  I am familiar with programs and interfaces such as DreamWeaver and WordPress.  My approach is to create clean and easily navigable pages which provide essential information.  There is nothing more annoying than out-of-date information, and my philosophy is that websites are only as good as its usefulness and value added to the end user.

Social Program & Policy Evaluation

I am constantly looking for new ways to evaluate programs and how they can be improved.  This certainly includes the use of objective metrics and performance measures, but I also like exploring and combining it with other methods of gathering information to see the larger, more human picture of the effect and success of human services.

Personnel Administration

My philosophy for organizing volunteers and supervising employees is to ensure that communication is open and encouraged, nurture staff's inherent desire to succeed, and continually challenge their level of engagement and performance.  I also like to celebrate and recognize work and other life achievements to build community and value staff as whole persons.

Grant Writing

I have extensive experience writing and being funded for grants, both at the non-profit and federal government levels.  My approach is to provide the funder with a compelling yet detailed practical prospectus of programs which deserve their support.
