As an analytical chemist my job is to implement new instrumental analytical methods for detection of different biomarkers in blood and tissues of lab animals. I have worked on implementing UHPLC with electrochemical detection for quantification of oxidized derivative of deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG). 8-oxo-dG is one of the major products of DNA oxidation, and the level of 8-oxo-dG is used as measurement of oxidative stress. Furthermore, I have implemented the electrochemical detection of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA). ADMA was analysed quantified after chemical derivatization. ADMA is a naturally occurring chemical found in blood plasma and liver. ADMA interferes with L-arginine in the production of nitric oxide, which is involved in normal endothelial function and, by extension, cardiovascular health.

Post.Doc.

My work involved utilising a commercial fungal enzymatic mixture to release bioactive compounds from plant cell walls. I worked with analytical chemical and biochemical methods with the main focus on enzyme technology including enzyme kinetics. I used UV/VIS-HPLC, RP-HPLC, HILIC and SEC chromatography as tools. I also used different design of experiments (DOE).

FluiSense

Nov 2011 - Feb 2012

Senior Development Engineer

I was member of a team developing a phase one medical device supporting the preclinical and clinical research.

DTU Kemi

Feb 2006 - Jul 2007

Research Assistant

My main task was to establish state-of-the-art chromatographical separation and quantification of mono-, oligo-, and poly-saccharides by High Performance Anionic Exchange Chromatography (HPAEC-PAD). I was also responsible for troubleshooting and day to day maintenance of the HPLC equipment.
