Swiss-Belhotel International

I am responsible for all aspects of operations at Swiss-Belhotel Changchun, from SBI International hospitality philosophy to day-to-day staff management, and guest and long-stay relations. Training staff to perform according to our brand standards; this is an especially challenging responsibility given the local culture and labor situation in Changchun.

Involved in stabilizing the hotel and ensuring that stabilized operations run efficiently and maximize both customer satisfaction and hotels profits.

  • Leading the hotel as its “according to SBI standards”, epitomizing the brand personality and working consistently to ensure the hotel is run impeccably
  • Overseeing and managing all departments, working closely with department heads on a daily basis
  • Monitoring customer satisfaction, through review of standardized feedback forms, and just as importantly by spending time directly with the guests and ensuring their needs are being met and expectations exceeded
  • Assisting in residential sales as required to discuss the hotel and development with strong sales prospects
  • Maximizing room yield and hotel revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs
  • Reporting to Swiss-Belhotel's corporate office on a regular basis; reporting both the President, on a weekly basis, and the Controller on a monthly basis
  • Establishing annual and quarterly budgets and revenue projections, with regular updating

The Wyndham Hangzhou XiXi Resort a 5 star international life-style resort, laid out at the edges of the XiXi Wetland Park, only 5 kilometers away from the famous West Lake. The life-style resort and the overall experience will reflect a high level of focus on nature, ecology, environment, preservation, sustainability and education. The resort’s key features include being close to nature with easy access from “the big city”, tranquility of its location, totally relaxing or high energy environment depending on how guest wants to use it, indoor and outdoor sport & relaxation activities complimented with an adjacent 18 hole golf course.

Regal Hotels International

Direct all strategic planning initiatives and hold P&L responsibility for this RMB200 million 5* luxury business hotel property with 330 rooms and 80 full service apartments, largest Tennis Club Centre in Shanghai “7 outdoor and 4 indoor cushioned hard tennis courts”, and 6 dining facilities situated in Shanghai, China. Manage 20 direct/600+ indirect employees within operations, finance, marketing, sales, IT, apartment and HR. Work with the Board regarding evolving strategies and financial performance issues and represent the hotel complex in the media (print and network).

  • Worked on brand standard implementation, refreshed the guestrooms with full reception and room renovation, worked consistent on visual and brand language within marketing, re-engineered some department model, and led the strategic revitalization and implemented the new corporate standards and procedures and cost saving measures, achieving increase in EBITDA within 12 months.
  • Halted a 2-year decline in sales for the restaurant in the Shanghai market by introducing a more aggressive menu to combat lower-priced competitors, improving traffic by 10% and growing sales.
  • Spearheaded a hotel and tennis court renovation project that improved competitiveness and generating a higher room average rate.
  • Slashed total hotel operating costs by instituting stringent inventory controls and more cost-effective operational and general administrative procedures, while maintain a 95% guest satisfaction rate.
  • Supported the corporate head office with pre-opening budgets, FF&E requirements for the newly to open hotels in China.

Held full P&L responsibility for the 5* Star Business Hotel in Port Sudan, directed all HR development systems required to ensure continued profitable growth and meet the on-going need for mid- and upper-level management during the difficult political situation. Directed all strategic planning and budgeting initiatives, with autonomous decision-making authority for the employees in facility operations, field management, marketing, sales, purchasing, PR, customer care, risk management, operating the property under most difficult situation and HR. Located in the centre of Port Sudan, Security was of prime importance, with the advent of the Darfur kidnapping UN staff, south and north political issues and the killing of people, numerous, travel warnings on a daily basis, from the Consulates of America, Australia and Britain.

  • achieved a 110% revenue increase and GOP profit improvement from 2% to 25%
  • improved average rate from USD 86 to USD 187 via “demand/supply” control
  • involving employee motivation, customer feedback and special marketing initiatives
  • Successful hotel handover from Hilton International to Coral Hotels as USA sanctions forbid to operate American companies in Sudan

Main duties and reporting lines: To run all business operations of a hotel and property including budgeting and financial matters. Directly reporting to the company’s Chairman.

Jianguo Hotel Beijing. The Jianguo Hotel is the “Grande Dame” of the Hospitality Industry in Beijing. Built in 1982 as the first joint venture hotel in China. The Jianguo Hotel Beijing is also a trendsetter in the Food & Beverage field. Justine’s, which is the best fine dining Restaurant in Beijing, featuring 3 to 5 grand scale food and beverages promotions annually including guest chefs, artists as well as musicians from around the world. The Hotel facilities focused on the Business Traveller and overall MICE consumer along with the domestic and international leisure travellers from the Europe, USA and Southeast Asia markets.

The Hotel has established itself as one of the top market leaders of Five Star Hotels in Beijing next to other international hotels. The Hotel has received acclimates and awards for its overall services as one of the most outstanding hotels for Fine Dining Cuisine.
