Skills and Attributes

Time Management Skills

As a post secondary student I currently have seven classes this semester. Time management skills are crucial in order to keep on top of assignments, tests, or extracurricular activities. I find inputting everything into a calendar will help stay on task, as well as breaking the bigger assignments up.

Organizational Skills

When I was in grade 10, I had the privilege and opportunity to be a counselor for my junior high volleyball camp. As a counselor, I had to prepare and organize activities. This taught me how to coordinate my time wisely, as well as creating an informal lesson plan.

Resolving Conflicts

I resolved a conflict between two of my co-workers arguing over the most efficient way to complete a task. Through patience, reasoning, and understanding I was able to diffuse the situation in a positive manner.

Leadership Skills

As a trainer for new employees, I taught them the requirements needed for the job, as well as mentored them to feel more comfortable and confident. Having others depend on me, I had to ensure I was able to complete the task with high efficiency, so they get the proper training. I also had to be someone that was easy to talk to in order to gain their trust and respect.

Cooperative

Playing on different sports teams has taught me about teamwork, self-reliance, and cooperation. Sometimes being on a team is not the easiest task especially when you do not work well with that individual. This has taught me to put aside differences in order to achieve success.

Adaptable

Through work, school, or volunteering there is always a diverse group of people ranging in personalities, age, and ethnic groups. I had to adapt to their different styles and overcome their barriers. By overcoming their barriers, I was able to maintain positive relationships.

Perseverance

Being a part of my high school jazz band there were many times I wanted to give up because I felt I was the weakest link in the band due to my lack of knowledge in jazz music. I had made a commitment to myself and band-mates, therefore, everyday I strived to become better through determination and practice.

Other Attributes

Honesty, Responsible, Compassionate, Punctual, Mature, Energetic, Outgoing, Flexible, Reliable, Considerate

Interests
