I currently hold the position of Contract Delivery Manager at the UK Governments’ personal accounts delivery authority (PADA). Responsible for the timely completion of negotiations and tender process for the outsourced pension scheme administration service.

Before PADA I worked with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and Gartner delivering projects across a range of blue-chip clients.


My specialties are solution design and strategic planning, team management, and project delivery. I have a strong IT skills and particular functional expertise in payment systems and core banking applications.

I have a strong entrepreneurial streak giving me experience of retail sales into Kmart, Sears and WalMart in the U.S., product manufacturing in China, online services and mobile telecomms.

Contract Delivery Manager in the commercial and procurement division. Responsible for timely negotiations and delivery of the outsourced Scheme Administration Services contract which forms the major component of the UK’s new £1bn pension service.

Adparo Solutions

Founding Director of Adparo. Niche consultancy working predominantly for KPMG and Gartner, leading teams on time critical, high profile IT projects, including:

Payments Council – Working directly with the Payments Board to develop the Industry business case, conduct market research and prepare the statement of user requirements for a new UK-wide mobile person-to-person payments service.

APACS (KPMG) – Key Member of the KPMG team brought into assist with the delivery of the industry wide Faster Payments Service for APACS. Responsible for the cross-member industry testing and liaison with test managers in the 13 Banks and Building Societies, the Scheme Body, Bank of England and the central infrastructure software provider. Solution was delivered to the revised plan on 27 May 2008.

Gartner and a Tier-1 UK bank – Member of a Gartner Consulting team assisting a leading UK bank develop a business case for the delivery of a £300m Global Payments Utility for the international payments market.

Barclaycard Partnerships (KPMG) – Project Manager for the accounting and settlements workstreams for the launch of the Argos and Thomas Cook joint venture credit card operations. Called in five months before go-live to recover this aspect of the programme. Lead a team of accountants and process consultants in defining and implementing the accounting solution and settlement functions. Also included significant co-ordination with other worksteams and business operations. Solution was delivered on time.

Unity Trust Bank – Called back by the Finance Director after previous work at ActivIdentity to initially support a Forensic IT team in a highly detailed analysis of the selected banking software to confirm to the bank’s legal representatives that it had been developed independently by the vendor. Subsequently retained to lead a team through the formal acceptance testing of the replacement banking solution.

Lloyds TSB (eCommerce) – Development of marketing prototype for 2002 release of LTSB online. Working alongside LTSB e-commerce strategy and marketing.

EarthFlip Limited – Designed, implemented and operated a new mobile subscription service providing payment processing with UK and international mobile operators for 3rd generation data content services to over 120,000 customers.

Responsibilities over the 4 years combined: consulting roles, software development and finally as the Director responsible for designing the technical solutions in new sales opportunities. Projects included:

Goldfish Financial Services – Project Manager and architect with responsibility for the design and implementation of the payments processing and settlement operations. This included managing a number of external service providers and close liaison with the business operations. Part of over a 100 man project to set up and migrate a new card operation.

Unity Trust Bank – Led the detailed requirements gathering and vendor selection exercise for a new core banking system. Executing our evaluation methodology to evaluate vendors across all axes, culminating in conference room pilots and final commercial discussions.

Simpay – Joint mobile payments initiate founded by Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Telefónica Móviles. Lead analyst responsible for the product and service definition of the complex payment, settlement and reconciliation operations.

Joined as part of a graduate IT programme subject to formal training in software development and the project delivery lifecycle. Initial assignments were technology focussed during which I moved into financial services and banking systems and was selected as part of a newly formed solutions centre responsible for the design and delivery of complex service architectures across financial service clients.

During the first two years, the assignments were mainly technical and included:

Bank of Ireland – Designed and built a Shareholder Value Model system which integrated with operational systems ad produced ‘what if’ modelling capabilities.

Deutsche Bank – Part of a team building a tactical system for Bank of England reporting of derivatives products. Time critical project which was delivered on time.

Nomura Bank – Building interfaces to middle office trading systems.

Bristol Myers-Squibb – Designed and built interfaces between the global SAP enterprise management system and local distribution networks across Europe. Bespoke, complex development which was delivered on time for the rollout of the Global Order to Cash programme.

In the last 3 years, working as part of an select division set up to design and deliver solutions to the Financial Services industry, projects included:

Lloyds TSB (Evolve Internet Bank) – Key member of the management team responsible for the delivery of a new fully operational standalone internet bank providing retail banking products to the UK market. Primarily responsible for the successful implementation of the core banking system but also for QA on all changes to the new core financial systems. Service continues to be operational today.

Royal Bank of Scotland – Cost reduction and business process improvement review resulting from NatWest and RBS merger.

Numerous – Bid and prototyping support for stand-alone banking solutions. Activities including; origination processes, core banking application, mortgage outsourcing, payments processing and card outsourcing vendor selection. Designing the functional architecture for proposals including payments processing, settlement & reconciliations and card processing.
