  • Editor and foreign affairs columnist with The Miami Herald.
  • Author of several bestsellers on international political and economic issues .
  • One of the 500 journalists more important U.S.
  • One of the 50 most influential Latin American intellectuals.
  • Co-winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize.
  • He won the Inter-American Press Association Award twice (1989 and 1994).
  • Award of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (1997).
