Andros Georgiou

Producer | DJ | Author | Entrepreneur

Born in London, Andros’ seasoned life in the world of the music business started at the tender young age of 13 as a mobile DJ where he was over the moon playing weddings, parties and the like. At 16 and a foot taller, Andros talked his way into a club in South London and eventually made it his own and it was called The Hangout. Andros' business acumen was starting to flourish here as he started to invite and book acts like fellow young DJ, mate and now the world's most famous DJ - Paul Oakenfold - to play. Andros' life was quickly changing, as was the music scene. Notably, it was barely six years prior that Andros and his inseparable cousin George Michael, both who at age 9 had attended a Queen concert at Earl's Court in London that predefined a moment, a career and a lifetime in one amazing Rock 'n Roll show. While Andros kept things spinning at the club, Cousin George started a band called WHAM! Andros was an integral part of the early process of WHAM!'s direction, helping inspire some of the look, attitude and sound of the band - even if just by a simple "sounds good mate", or indirectly by being a living inspiration of a "young gun" in his dress and swagger. George Michael was destined for stardom but he leaned on Andros for more than just a cousin's average opinion.

Entrepreneurial Andros worked his way up from the shop floor at Our Price Records to then working with Pinnacle, Polydor, and Streetsounds Records when it became his destiny or turn, if you will, to do some major creating of his own. Andros Georgiou created Hardback Records (established in 1986) and modeled Hardback after “Casablanca Records” of the 1970s. Andros was inspired by Casablanca's no agenda style, and them consistently putting out great records no matter what the genre, and ending up with the biggest Rock act on the planet at that time; KISS and the biggest Dance diva Donna Summer. Andros' hard work was paying off, his 3rd single on Hardback Records sold over 1 Million copies. Strategically over the years Hardback only released a record that Andros felt had it's place, hence Hardback Records has only released 19 singles (Selling over 1 Million copies) & 3 Albums. In 2000, the last release was “ Fierce, Sweet Love”, selling over 150,000 Records and hitting No. 4 in the UK National Charts. With only 19 singles released in 23 years, Hardback is now a boutique record label by default with releases changing hands at a collector’s level. In-between putting records out, Hardback signed Producer Peter Lormier who began working with artists such as Monie Love, INXS, Happy Mondays, David Bowie, M People, PM Dawn, Elton John and George Michael, to name but a few. In that time Hardback had the pleasure of working directly with every major Record label including Polydor, Universal, Sony, WEA, Virgin, Rough Trade, A&M, RCA, SBK, Chrysalis, Telstar and EMI records.

Based on his impressive work with Hardback Records, next up for Andros was the prestigious announcement he was to be made President of George Michael's Record Label, Aegean Records. Besides his accomplishments that included being Head of A&R, Andros successfully directed a world-class independent music label that pioneered the concept of online music sales, and he assisted in technology development with Liquid Audio where he released the first online track for sale (Trojan Souls/George Michael "Ain't Know Stopping Us Now"). This drew major attention and turned heads from the music business and the BBC featured a segment with Andros to celebrate this new direction in music sales. Andros also designed and launched Aegean.net, an online fan community that heavily incorporated multimedia components as well as social networking which was, and he humbly states; "WAY ahead of it's time". Andros Georgiou also managed distribution and promotions with major labels (Virgin, Dreamworks, Warner, etc.) and was Media Liaison and coordinated all promotion for Aegean Records.

While President of Aegean Records, George Michael's "Older" album sold around 15 million copies worldwide. "Older" was particularly notable for the release of it's six singles. All of them reached the UK Top 3, hitting a record for the most singles at the British Top 3 released from a single album. Quite a feat really.

Currently living in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife and family, a published author ("ROCK: The Luckiest Man in Pop") and one of the country's premiere, professional social media experts, specializing in Social Media Management and Marketing using Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google, Google+, instagram, etc. Andros is also keeping the music going with his "London Calling Radio Show FM (LCRFM)", which broadcasts live on www.lcrfm.com Saturdays at 12pm PST. His following is more than healthy and most recently he interviewed Paul McCartney's step-mother and sister on his show. Andros is a Member in Good Standing of ASCAP and an active voting guild member of The Grammys and a Member in Good Standing of MCPS, London.

In 2014, Andros Georgiou Media has launched a partnership with Dirtbox Records and formed Public Images Ltd. (PiL), a Branding and Social Media Management Agency that was born of the progressive and clever minds of Andros Georgiou and Dirtbox Records' president Peter Godley, of London.

Peter Godley is no stranger to the entertainment industry either and as founder of Dirtbox Records, he has seen the changes social media and online record sales has had on the music industry and is just as excited about both phases of Public Images Ltd.'s birth; "It's kind of a no-brainer to be in busines with Andros and AGM because we both know the music industry inside out, but more importantly, Georgiou has opened my eyes to the power of social media and since I'm pretty much caught up by now - it's time to allow PiL to do great things - and quite honestly it's great fun to watch all these wheels turning. Listen, I am a firm believer in action and frankly Georgiou never lets up!"
