Introduction

First, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to consider me as a candidate for employment in your company. I am a recent graduate from Technology High School in Rohnert Park, California. My plans for the future include attending Santa Rosa Junior College for two years, then transferring to a University to earn a B.S. in Information Technology. During this time, I want to develop my job skills working for a local or large scale company in the area. I am especially passionate about working with computers and new technology in all forms, as well as being able to see the impact of my accomplishments and how they affect those around me. I gain great personal satisfaction from pleasing both clients and employers in whatever field I find myself in. As a student at Technology High School, I was constantly put in teams that worked together through different curriculums from one class to another. This resulted in an incredibly personal connection with those I worked with. I hope to have the same relationship with my colleagues and superiors in a business environment.

Feb 2009 - May 2010

Supervisor

United States Department of Commerce, Census Bureau

I was hired by the Department of Commerce as an enumerator for the 2010 Decennial Census. I served in 2 operations before being promoted to a Crew Leader Assistant, then quickly promoted to Crew Leader for subsequent operations. As a Crew Leader I was responsible for the progress of 20 enumerators and 2 assistants. Under my supervision my crew enumerated Petaluma, California; a population of over 50,000 citizens. During this time I handled tasks such as maintaining personnel records, promoting and terminating employees, managing schedules, assignments and expenses, as well as personally certifying every Census survey collected by my team.

Oct 2007 - Nov 2009

PC Technician, Sales

CompUSA, Circuit City, Office Depot

Between 2007 and 2009 I worked for CompUSA, Circuit City and Office Depot. I was hired at CompUSA to work as a customer service representative but was often on the sales floor helping customers and in the repair room working on PCs. I worked with them through liquidation and left in good standing with the company. I was then hired on at Circuit City for a seasonal position. I worked through the end of the year and was asked to stay on after seasonal employment ended. Unfortunately Circuit City also began liquidating shortly after. I continued working for Circuit City until I was laid off when the store had sold out. At this point I was hired at Office Depot for sales and PC repair, having worked in both areas for my previous employers. I built a relationship with each customer and was asked for by name often. I left the company to give more focus to my new position as a Supervisor for the United States Department of Commerce Census Bureau.

Diploma

Technology High School

Technology High School is one of the shaping factors of who I am today. The educators there are incredibly qualified to teach. The best part for me was that they never stopped at what was in the state standards, or even what their subject was about. I learned more from personal stories and "birdwalking" than I could have ever learned out of a textbook. The curriculum there, however, is anything but unfocused. I remember walking into my Freshman math class and being informed that we would be covering algebra, geometry, and trigonometry that year. That was just second period on the first day of school, by the time we made it to lunch, we found out that math was the "easy" class. Our science teacher, Dr. Joseph Immel Jr., had explained to us that we would also be learning about nuclear physics, calculus and stoichiometry in science, and that in engineering we would be working on a four year project covering electricity, economics, risk analysis, business practices, and construction.
