Teach for America - Las Vegas Valley Corps

Fulfilled a 2 year commitment to teach at an inner city school in Las Vegas. Taught a 1st grade and kindergarten class during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. Engaged in culturally responsive teaching strategies as well as attended several professional development seminars geared towards closing the existing achievement gap in United States Education.

Clark County School District

Taught full time as a teacher of the school district. Tracked and assessed students’ academic and social progress through a variety of different assessment tools. Attended professional development seminars geared towards improving classroom instruction. Planned effective lessons and assessments that were responsive to individual student needs. I also created and maintained an after school club where we taught introductory programming and robotics concepts to 4th grade students.

Housekeeping Student Worker

Morris University Center, SIUE

While in school, I worked as a member of the university center’s housekeeping staff. Daily responsibilities included: Setting up meeting rooms for public events, maintaining cleanliness of the facilities, organizing and constructing efficient solutions for event setup.

M. Ed Curriculum and Instruction

University of Nevada Las Vegas

Studied various strategies and theory on how to develop an effective all-subject curriculum for Elementary students. Taught full time and applied classwork to real life teaching.

B.A English - Secondary Education

Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville

Studied both English Literature and English pedagogy. Constructed research-based senior assignment projects for both fields. Student taught in a high-income school district. 



Lifelong passion and enthusiasm for writing of all forms. Have multitudes of experience with academic writing, creative writing, blogging, and technical writing. Have multitudes of samples of writing from a 6 year academic career.  

Computers & Technology 

Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and various text editing software (Office, Google Drive, LaTeX). Knowledge of basic programming concepts and expertise of MIT's Scratch programming language for children.

Teaching & Education

Knowledge of curriculum development and professional pedagogy in both Elementary and Secondary settings. Experience as a teacher in both low-income and high-income school districts.
