Dissertation: Internet, Electronic Banking and its Implications to India The dissertation was an evaluation of the Internet and its role as a commercial network in the promotion of Electronic Commerce. It also reviewed the latest developments in 1994-95 in the US, Europe in the E-Commerce field and how banks in these continents used the Internet to promote their services. The dissertation concluded that the Internet is the future and banks need to get on the Internet quickly as the days of “brick & mortar’ branches will be a thing of the past and the Internet opens up a new channel for customer service and marketing for the banks. It also discussed the changes in the Indian Economy in 1994-95 due to the economic liberalization and what needed to be done in India to promote Electronic Banking and integrate India in the global economy.
