Research focused to bridge the gap between inflammation and cancer, understanding complex function of immune cells within the tumor microenvironment and proposing dietary solutions as a preventive and therapeutic agent.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather literature, facts and statistics related to use of complementary and integrated medicine
  • Determined the role of inflammation associated molecules in growth and development of prostate cancer
  • Conducted marine drug discovery and development project with special emphases on anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activity.
  • Perform laboratory management duties, maintaining research safety manuals and inventories as per federal occupational, chemical and radiation safety guidelines.

Technique Skills acquired: Mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, q-PCR, ELISA (cytokines & secretary proteins), protein microarray.

As a PhD Fellow and Project Assistant

  • Conducted project to analyze the anti-cancer activity of selective herbal medicine in cervical cancer
  • Oversee and manage collaborative project in area of inflammation and nanotechnology
  • Interpreted obtained data and compiled result  in collaboration with senior scientists and co-workers

  • Led the process of training and managing postgraduate students in laboratory techniques and guiding in dissertation preparation

Technique Skills acquired: Development of cell line from tumor sample and primary culture from normal tissue,  flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, western blotting, zymoghraphy, animal handling, biochemical and cell based colorimetric, fluorescence and HTRF assay , statistical analysis using sigma plot and graph pad prism.
