Wound Care and Dressing Changes
My participation so far as a member of the medical team has been a rewarding experience. Over the past six years, I have deeply fallen in love with the nursing profession. Previously, I worked in an infection care therapy center where I performed phlebotomy and wound care dressing changes to patients. Currently, I am working as a dialysis technician. The more I learn in regards to medicine, the more interested I become in furthering my education. I am eager to learn everything I need to know in order to become a successful experienced nurse. In order to achieve that goal, I understand the responsibility of continuous education that is required.I have been exposed to medicine my entire life. Living in a family filled with physicians, I have been updated on many aspects of developing technology and the expansion of career options. The changes that have occurred are fascinating and I am excited to be a part of that growth. Throughout my experiences in the medical field, I observed the concerns of many patients pertaining to their treatment. Having been a patient myself, I feel that I owe the community my determination and passion. Not only do I love the medical duties, but also there is nothing more gratifying than bringing a smile to the face of another individual. Nursing is all about improving the quality of life for patients. In May of two-thousand and five, I was diagnosed with Syringomyelia and a Chairi malformation. After learning about my medical situation, I was informed that without surgery I would be left paralyzed. Less than two days after my wedding, I had surgery on my skull and cervical spine to remove bone. The nurses who took care of me were nothing but inspiring. They were respectful, professional and caring to me during a difficult time in my life. I was impressed by the teamwork of the medical staff, and inspired to further pursue this field. My goal is to obtain a position where I can effectively provide quality medical care. Treating patients with respect is very essential to me. I feel helping other medical professional’s assist patients is what fits me best for my future. With such tremendous growth, nursing will always hold my interest. I anticipate the day where my role models become my peers and I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this growing profession.
