As an educator and artist I am committed to finding processes that help nurture connections between people, their communities and their surrounding environments. Through education I endeavor to uncover new perspectives, draw attention to important narratives and help contribute to positive social change.
Methods: Media, English, Drama
Majors : Theatre and Media Studies. Minor: International Studies.
Within this role I am currently designing and facilitating workshops to young people (across Primary and Secondary age's) at the Institute, building partnerships with Community Programs and taking historical tours of the building.
Working within the Public Programs Department at ACMI, roles have included planning, delivering and helping evaluate School Holiday workshop programs for young people, creating youth programs in partnership with major exhibitions and delivering interactive workshops for the General Public .
Conceiving and delivering performance based workshops for young people aged between 5-18. Creating inclusive environments to support children with Access requirements and directing/ facilitating performance work with the voices and concerns of children and teenagers.
Employed by Fairfield Primary School to oversee a large Film Making Project. Duties included planning and delivering a series of workshops for students, editing short films, and assisting within the delivery of the film presentation at Westgarth Cinema.
Employed through Moreland City Council I facilitated a week long school workshop program for 3 primary schools within Moreland City Council, preparing a parade for the annual Fawkner Festival.
Since undertaking the Certificate III in MicroBusiness, under the NEIS Scheme, I have worked with organisations including Polykala; Leadership Training (www.polykala.org) , Fragment 31- Taipei Dance Exchange (www.fragment31exchange.com), and The Meeting Space; Youth Leadership (www.themeetingspace.org) creating custom made websites including personalised photography and graphic design for each client. As a Freelance photographic documenter I have also documented events & performance since 2013.
A project member for the Multi-Form Arts Project 'Voiceless Journeys', which celebrated refugees within Melbourne through an outdoor Public Photography Exhibition. Within this role I co-collaborated on the videography for the project and helped assist in the set up and pre-production stages for the public exhibition.
Teaching weekly Theatre workshops across multiple venues working with children aged 5-18.
Under this full time, short term replacement position, I taught six classes, directed two devised productions for public performance, was responsible as a Year 8 Homeroom Teacher and organised a number of class excursions. This position required student monitoring, report writing, undertaking professional development and a high level of parent and staff communication.
This short term replacement position saw me taking Year 5 and 6 Drama, writing and directing a Year 6 Production, working closely with teachers and staff and planning lessons in line with the curriculum.
Within this one year contract I taught ICT for students from prep to year 12 with mild to moderate learning difficulties. Through this position I followed VELS requirements, and curriculum guidelines, monitored and reported student development, worked collaboratively with staff, interacted with parents and contributed to additional student engagement programs to help contribute to the life of the school.
This 3 day Adaptive Leadership course was run by Simon Nette, who has trained with Ron Hifetz at the John F. Kennedy, School of Government, Harvard Univeristy. This Adaptive leadership course provided me with valuable tools and insight into effective and authentic leadership and an awareness that my leadership effectiveness is tied directly to my reflective skill.
This part time, 5 week course, provided me with Photographic post production skills.
This part time, 6 week course gave me skills in all aspects of pre-production, production and post production Documentary Film Making.
10 week part time introductory course to Philosophy.
2015. CREATIVE VICTORIA GRANT.
In 2015 I was awarded a grant for $12,000 for the creative development of a Live Art Project. A A collaboration with young people on the Autism Spectrum, the work Genius has partnered with St Martins Youth Arts Centre, Theatreworks and the Festival of Live Art.
2013. AUSTRALIA COUNCIL. ART START GRANT AWARD.
In 2013, I was awarded $10,000 from the Australia Council for the development of my independent Arts Practice. This grant saw me develop and implement a self-directed one year program to aid the establishment of my arts practice and included undertaking an international residency in Varanasi, India.
2014. PUNCTUM, CASTLEMAINE. SEEDPOD RESIDENCY GRANT.
In 2014 I was awarded the Seedpod Residency Grant with my artistic co-collaborator, Sally Lewry. Within this residency project we developed a Live Art Walking Project for the community of Castlemaine. .
2006-2008. DEANS RECOGNITION AWARDS.
Whilst undertaking my Bachelor of Performing Arts I received Deans Recognition Awards for my academic work in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
