Skills History

Computer skills

I know how to format text, create headers and footers, make tables illustrating key information and perform a number of other tricks to make my written presentations professional. I like to find different ways to overcome a computer-related problem through searching its solution from google or watching tutorials on youtube.

I am able to preform well in high-pressure environment as I am very competitive with a strong motivation to succeed. An example of this is the way I was able to balance study and sports event at college. Training several times a week with my cricket and volleyball team while also studying for all the class tests required motivation, hard work, prioritisation and organisational skills.

In my senior year I was elected School Sports Captain for which I was responsible for organising teams, training and inter-house sporting competitions. I was also the co-captain for RLMC cricket team and successfully secured a runner-up position. Taking these leadership roles developed my ability to deal with intense situations, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively.

I can speak fluently in English, Urdu and Punjabi and feel that being able to communicate with a broad range of people is an integral part of breaking down barriers of understanding.

I have worked as a substitute teacher for biology and chemistry throughout my high school year. For this role I had to prepare two lessons ahead of each class so that, if a teacher was absent, I could continue with the lesson required. This assisted me with time management skills and the ability to convey different concepts.

My Motivation for the post of Treasurer

I am currently pursuing MBBS degree  at Rashid Latif Medical College and I am  interested for the position of Treasurer. I am very much looking forward to working with IFMSA because your organisation focuses on the ideas of future health professionals in the field of global health. I have always held an intrinsic belief that no one should lack access to basic needs and resources such as food, clean water, healthcare, and proper housing and sanitation. The vast disparities that exist in healthcare and access to basic needs has fostered a growing desire to aid in closing the gap that is present amongst developed and developing countries. Hence, joining your organisation will give me a chance with further aid in my understanding of global health matters and also give me an opportunity to play some part in the change that needs to done in order to improve global health matters.

In addition, I tend to:

  • Seek and actively learn new information to keep myself up to date with new skill requirements
  • Listen to and integrate criticism and advice from peers and teachers so that I can strengthen my personal deficits and weaknesses wherever possible.
  • Work well as a team member and able to offer  valuable skills.
  • Enjoy using my analytical and computer skills which will help me as a position for the treasurer

I hope that the skills I have gained through my work and educational experiences are appreciated by your organisation for this post and I am given an opportunity to be a part of this prestigious organisation.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
