As managing director, I have been at the center of every aspect of business at Fusión – from budget and plan development and implementation, to selecting, instructing and managing outside consultants, overseeing and reviewing work for accuracy and quality, managing production, dissemination strategies and implementation. Creating initiatives: Developed and directed an on-going marketing and public relations initiative to inform Spanish-only Latinos with limited formal education of the prevalence of autism in children, how to identify its presence, and what to do about it.

Developing Strategies: Lead the conception of marketing, fundraising and public relations strategies and materials for multicultural, bilingual education development center. Efforts resulted in over four million dollars in private donations in a few months for an organization used to receiving limited funds almost exclusively from the government.Diversity "decoding" and Coaching: Facilitate understanding of culture differences between Hispanics and non-Hispanics and within the Hispanic community.Ensuring Cultural Appropriateness: Directed the adaptation of English-language materials into Spanish for non-profit organization, ensuring a clear and culturally appropriate message understood by the complex mix of cultures within the U.S. Latino population.Guaranteeing Successful enterprises:  Lead and directed the creation of marketing materials targeting the U.S. Hispanic communities for financial service company.

When I started at what was then Oldham + Partners, my title was director, business development. After a couple of years that title was changed to senior associate and lastly to principal.Relationship building to support business development models:  Designed and implemented a business development model and methodology, targeting specific industries and organizations resulting in a 160% increase in revenue in two years and laying the groundwork for continued growth.Introduced new partners to and at end-user specific associations and organizations.Creating market leadership: Established Company as the market leader in the planning and designing of technology intensive spaces and corporate headquarters for high tech companies through continuous external communications.Expansion of business outreach and exposure:  Proactively identified and arranged targeted speaking engagements for key individuals; engineered publishing opportunities in high profile industry-specific trade magazines and local business news print, resulting in extensive external recognition and market leadership.

Orchestrated and directed efforts of Atlanta-based Company to establish a presence in Washington, DC's real estate market. Efforts resulted in five major contracts during one of the worst local and national economic/real estate downturns.Lead the marketing and public relations/image strategy during internal buy-out and name-change, enabling the company to maintain its key talent and clients.

1986 - 1989


Independent Consultant

Managed concentrated marketing campaign for Houston, Texas developer. Planned and ran sales/promotion events and activities; responsible for training and managing a staff of 21. Efforts resulted in the sales of over 100 units in three weeks.Planned and led promotional and ceremonial activities surrounding the conversion and name change of a local bank.Created and led public relations activities surrounding meetings in Washington of top national and international banking executives from Italy, Mexico and the international division of a U.S. bank. Led efforts of Italian university Master's program to raise funds from U.S. private organizations for joint project with university in Russia. In less than ten days the needed funds were acquired.Successfully renegotiated financial agreement and handled conflict management between chairman of international bank and North American business interest.
