UWIRE is an entirely student powered wire service that generates more than 500 stories a day, including first rate news, opinion, sports, and entertainment coverage.

  • Edit and post top student-generated news stories from over 20 college newspapers from across the country to UWIRE.com, the Web site for a college journalism news wire service.
  • Update the Higher Education page, as well as the Administration and Crime and Safety subsections of the site.
  • Write weekly wraps of higher education issues.

  • Developed in-depth articles and series with editors and reporters
  • Served as a liaison between management, news editors, photo editors and page designers

The Daily Cardinal (Cir. 10,000) is one of two independent student newspapers published daily during the University of Wisconsin academic year. 

  • Solely responsible for selecting daily campus news content and assigning articles to reporters
  • Managed campus staff of 15 reporters, while honing writing and editing skills
  • Named to UWIRE 100 for work as campus editor.

As a staffwriter during the 2006-'07 school year, I had two articles published in the New York Times digital edition via UWIRE, which can be found in the clips to the right.

Summary

Amanda is a May 2009 University of Wisconsin-Madison grad with a Journalism Bachelor of Science degree. Originally from Plymouth, Minn., she has interests in living and working in a large city. Her communications experience includes reporting, researching and editing at a student newspaper, a national online news wire service and one of the largest magazine publishing companies in the Midwest. She currently seeks a full-time job that will allow her to utilize the skills she has learned professionally and academically. She is willing to relocate for a position that demands excellence from quality employees, involves working with other people, and requires creativity, writing, editing and other communication skills.
