I'm a junior in Journalism – News Editorial with a minor in Spanish at Baylor University. I am a member of Alpha Delta Pi and the Hispanic Student Association at Baylor. I am from Pflugerville, TX and a member of the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC), an honors program part of the honors college. I will be graduating in May 2013 and my goals include achieving a career as a writer for a newspaper.
I worked as a secretary for the Pflugerville Community Center in Pflugerville, TX from May 2007-August 2007. I worked with social workers answering phone calls regarding services such as WIC, contacting social workers and organizing files for them. I helped the social workers organize food and clothes in care packages for families who could not maintain a week’s worth of necessities.
In June 2008, I went on a service trip with my high school’s service team, the Service Crusaders. I played lacrosse for four years in high school and was captain my senior year. I graduated high school with honors after writing a 20 page thesis on child soldiers and human trafficking.
I am hopeful to gain an internship with the Baylor Lariat or another internship her senior year. I am a driven individual who adapts well in any situation, including strenuous circumstances. I hope to achieve a career involving writing for a newspaper, but is also open to other options. My relevant coursework includes Writing/ Editing for Online Media, Electronic News Writing, Media Photography, Editing and Advanced Writing & Reporting. My goal in my upcoming search for an internship/ job is to take the knowledge she has learned from her classes and apply them to enhance her skills in the work field.
