In this portfolio section you will find three reflective narratives regarding the student learning objectives in the Child Development major. There are also four documents of supporting evidence to aid the declarations that have been made about my knowledge through this coursework.
This narrative discusses my use of professional behavior and how i have grown to become a successful professional in my work.
This letter of recommendation is from a supervisor at a preschool position, used to accompany a graduate school application.
This self-reflection shows the goals that I made for myself during an internship in a preschool classroom setting, as well as a pusedo-letter to my supervisor explaining why I am a good fit for a position at the preschool.
This reflective piece explains the use of critical thinking and how I have learned to use it in regards to children's well being.
This response shows how I was able to create and implement my own curriculum plan at a supervised internship.
This narrative describes the knowledge acquired regarding children's assessments, and the different types of assessments I have practiced.
This includes a table that shows the observation notes used to provide a complete assessment on a child.
Reflective scenarios are made up situations to look back on the experience and knowledge that has been acquired through the undergraduate program and, in a video, discuss my actions if put in one of these situations.
This scenario discusses my response if a parent says that they were spanked as a child and they came out fine. This video stated my reasoning for the response given, as well as where the information I have obtained is from.
In this scenario, I discuss a situation regarding a supervisor disclosing that he does not follow correct protocol when assessing children and my reaction. I also state where my information of assessing comes from and the importance of correctly assessing children.
In this portfolio section you will find two Leadership training assignments regarding protective factors and home visiting programs; the importance of knowing how to help, having the resources, and having the time to visit and provide at-home assistance.
Included in this document is a discussion of the protective factors, and how a preschool classroom works to support and provide resources about the factors to their families.
This piece provides information on the importance of home visiting, and how workers can be safe when providing these services to families.
These video responses show the skills I learned in a variety of situations and how to use them in a professional setting. I also disclose some challenges and how I was able to overcome them.
This video discusses two children that I have worked closely with that were challenging. I speak to the strategies I used in order to overcome these stimulating experiences, and the professional skills I gained through the experience.
This response includes the core values that I find most important to my professional and personal life, and why I think they are valuable to the field of Child Development.
In this response, I share a few ways I was able to be successful in my academic career, as well as a challenge I was able to overcome as I continued through my course work.
