I was a student clinician in the English Language Proficiency Clinic (ELPC) in the spring of 2008. In the ELPC I worked with linguistically diverse adults who spoke English as a second language. The main goal was to teach correct American English pronunciation so that the clients are better understood by their peers and students.
From September 2008 to the present I have gained experience as a tutor for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am able to directly implement methods of the Applied Behavioral Analysis Theory that I have learned in class while following a program set by an ABA consultant to elicit specific behavioral goals from the child as well as encourage him to express himself while helping him learn to work through his frustrations.
My name is Alyson Heiney, I am a graduate student at Kent State University in Kent, OH. I am working towards earning my Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. I earned two Bachelor's degrees from Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. I plan to graduate in August 2010. I hope to find a position in which I can combine my skills to practice bilingual speech and language pathology.
