I am a current member of the Pre-Health Honor Society (Alpha Epsilon Delta) and of the Exercise Physiology Club here at the University. Alpha Epsilon Delta, or AED for short, meets once a week with presentations from current doctors to discuss the field of medicine, and the one of the clubs main focuses is community service. The Exercise Physiology club meets once a week to discuss how improve health of members and the community.
From fall of 2012 to the summer of 2013, I was part of a community service called the STARS program. Once a week, I visited an elementary school for 2 hours to mentor at risk children and help with their homework. I learned a lot from the children I worked with, and the overall experience was very rewarding.
I have been a part of the University of Alabama Athletics Program. I was a member of the swim team from August 2012 to March of 2013 and I have been a member of the collegiate crew team since August. Both sports require 20 hours of practice each week along with a minimum of 12 hours of college classes. I am required by the coaching staff to maintain a fairly high GPA. Both sports have taught me discipline and time management which I believe are essential to the working world.
I am a sophomore at the University of Alabama. I have 4.0 GPA. I have been on the President's list the last 2 semesters and I qualified for SEC honor roll last year. I am majoring in Psychology with a minor in Biology. I am on the Pre-Med track, and I will hopefully apply for medical school in the summer of 2015.
