About Allen Elster

Since receiving his MD from Wake Forest University, Dr. Allen Elster has pursued an internship and two residencies to obtain clinical training. As an internal medicine resident, he currently treats as many as 20 individuals daily at the East Tennessee State University Medical Center. Responsible for patients through their entire hospital stay, Dr. Allen Elster performs various diagnostics related to conditions such as kidney and heart failure, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In addition, he collaborates with cardiologists, nephrologists, and other specialists to identify the best way to care for patients.

Dr. Elster previously completed an internal medicine internship at the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina. In 2011 and 2012, he received the Silver Star Award for patient care at Greenville.

Away from practicing medicine, Dr. Allen Elster enjoys watching college basketball, listening to the Rolling Stones, and playing tennis. He also enjoys traveling. He has visited many countries throughout the world, including Italy and the Dominican Republic.
