In my third year of high school, I attended a Christian revival; the preacher talked about those who do the Lord’s work in vain because they do not have a relationship with Him (Matthew 7: 21-23). The message convicted me because I was involved in my church and Christian union club at school, but I had not accepted the gift of salvation. I accepted the Lord’s salvation that day. In 2014 after listening to a lot of different podcasts by different pastors, I felt the Lord leading me to attend seminary for ministry training. That summer my wife and I moved from Kenya to Dallas Texas, for me to attend Criswell college.
What I consider most important in student ministry, is equipping and preparing the students to make much of Jesus both while in the ministry and after they are long gone. As a student minister, I desire to see students grow in faith and understanding of who God is through a proper interpretation of scripture. I'm a believer in "what you win them with is what you win them to." Even though activities and fun are important, what is paramount is a profound biblical knowledge powered by the Holy Spirit and responded to in obedience. I also believe firmly in involving parents because they are the student's primary teachers.
