An experienced family physician, Dr. Ali Ghahary began his career as a locum physician for Prince Albert Minor Emergency Clinic in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. During these early years, he also treated patients at clinics in rural towns across Saskatchewan for Northern Medical Services. A member of the British Columbia College of Family Physicians, Dr. Ali Ghahary previously held full privileges at Lions Gate Hospital, where he attended regular overnight shifts, as well as held associate privileges at Chilliwack General Hospital..
In his current position as a family physician at Brentwood Medical Clinic in Burnaby, British Columbia, Dr. Ghahary provides medical and mental health health care for patients ranging from the neonatal to geriatric stages of life. Along with treating patients from more simple to complex and chronic medical conditions, he practices preventive medicine, which includes providing dietary and fitness advice, or assisting patients with lifestyle changes such as quit smoking. Dr. Ghahary is also experienced in providing care for mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, as well as addiction problems which include alcoholism, and substance dependence.
Dr. Ghahary possesses a BSc in Medicine and an MD (with Honours in Research) from the University of Alberta, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at McGill University.
Outside of his medical work, he enjoys skiing, bicycling, weight training, and jogging. To raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, he participates in 'Grind for Kids' which involves runs up the Grouse Grind trail on Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain.
