At Diamondcluster, Alex worked as a management consultant on projects ranging from data strategy, enterprise data architecture re-engineering, program management of strategic projects and project management of a firm-wide middleware migration effort.

Project Experience:

Goldman Sachs and Company (March 2005 to March 2007)

Alex was responsible for establishing a PMO as well as program managing several strategic projects utilizing virtual and dedicated resources with division-wide implementation scope and impact.

The projects ranged in scope as follows:

  • Test driven methodologies and automated testing tools
  • Continuous build framework based on 3rd party and open source technology
  • Database cache software commoditization
  • Architectural patterns
  • Technical leadership development
  • Facilitation of high-level meetings among silo-heads

In this capacity, Alex reported directly to a managing director (MD) of a business unit silo and worked closely with the MD in all aspects of planning, strategy and execution.

In a further evolution of his role at this client, Alex also worked on project managing complex migrations of applications from the TIBCO ETX messaging platform to the EMS platform.  In this capacity, Alex coordinated and managed migration efforts for multiple projects that impacted business units across the entire firm.

Most recently, Alex was also involved in project planning, budgeting and process reengineering efforts for a 76 person cross-divisional technology organization at this client.

Prior to joining DiamondCluster, Alex worked as a consultant with the Solutions Engineering Core Technology and Architecture service line within the insurance and banking market unit at Accenture. His duties there included infrastructure architecture and project management roles which encompassed configuration management, application server administration, software/hardware product selection and evaluation, infrastructure design and operations management. He has had significant exposure to large scale enterprise projects involving administration of multiple environments touching a variety of services (MQ, SAS, various databases, maineframe and rules engine).

Project Experience:

Liberty Mutual Insurance Company

Alex worked on a project established to examine the opportunities to drive out underwriting and processing costs for commercial lines. This project represented a broad-based initiative whose objective is to develop a fully automated underwriting and policy issuance environment. This environment introduced new processing capabilities that will fundamentally change the way commercial lines are processed. The objective is to enable a fully automated underwriting and policy issuance environment capable of supporting "unattended" processing for commercial lines.

Alex’s Responsibilities involved the following:

  • Configuration Management and Environment Manager for a large scale multi-release and multi-site development effort
  • Responsible for setting software configuration management standards for a large scale development project involving the following products: Rational Suite, SeeBeyond eGate/eInsight, AION rules engine, Websphere Application Server and Websphere Application Developer
  • Managed and coordinated development environment availability, testing, build and deployments across four separate development and testing locations across the continental US
  • Project infrastructure architecture design process

Hartford P&C Insurance Company

Alex participated on a project focused on providing model office capabilities to the Product Management organization's desktops.  These capabilities include the ability to analyze performance of the current book of business, create "what-if" underwriting scenarios by modifying risk assessment & eligibility rules, create "what-if" rating scenarios by modifying rate table factors and assess impact of underwriting and/or rating "what-if" scenarios on book of business performance

In addition, Alex worked on a project that represented a key initiative aimed at enabling faster realization of premiums, lower operating costs, and reduces loss exposure.  The program included projects to re-engineer the auto policy administration systems, delivered a new class plan using Ratabase, re-engineered testing methodologies to enable faster deployment of product to market, implemented profile-based underwriting techniques, and developed a product management workstation for creating and managing business rules and also provided the ability to perform segmentation and financial analysis for their book of business.

Hartford Life Insurance Company

Alex worked on post-M&A integration of the two companies.  The high level objective of the project is to convert approximately 200,000 contracts from the acquired system to 14 newly defined products within the proprietary Acquirer’s systems.

ING Financial Services

Alex was part of a team that was involved with the post-M&A separation of the parent company from the acquired company. The applications and the technical infrastructure supporting Worksite Operations needed to be migrated to a centralized Data Center. The project scope included: Application testing for all systems, external system interfaces and connectivity and coordination of data move with the infrastructure.

Chubb Specialty Insurance
