Objective

Seeking an internship or job position in a community outreach and social justice facility to expand my knowledge as a Communications major. My experience as a community volunteer  and strong passion for wanting to help others find their voice and build multicultural advocacy ensures that I will make a positive augmentation to a nonprofit organization.

Civic Engagement Youth Focus Summer Intern

Asian Counseling Referral Service

-Fulfilled office duties with creating one page background profiles for the country of Cambodia and Vietnam involved with Civic Engagement activity

-Meet and connect with other ACRS staff including case managers, interns, and volunteers

-Hosted the 2016 Asian American Pacific Islander Presidential Town Hall Meeting at ACRS

-Worked alongside with the Field Organizer to connect with Child, Youth, and Families department to plan the "Celebrate Your Freedom" event in October as a way of reaching out to the youths to know their coming of age voting rights

-Participated in helping out volunteers with Phone Banking to remind AAPIs about upcoming elections and getting them registered to vote

-Cooperated with the Khmer Case Manager during the Presidential Town Hall Meeting to help Khmer Senior clients register to vote but translated information from English to Khmer about why voting matters to them and their families living in Cambodia or the United States

- Provide guest service on the Sales Floor by attending guest needs for looking up specific items or merchandise in the store using PDA devices and communicating through Walkie Talkies

- Served appetizers and snacks at Target Food Avenue/Cafe - Pushed carts from outside in the parking lot, doing restroom checks, disposing trash, collecting hand baskets and emptying out hanger bins as the former Cart Attendant

- Worked as Operator receptionist in the fitting room by answering incoming calls from shoppers who has questions about the store and seeing what we have in stock too.

AANAPISI Center Outreach Intern

- Promoting and outreaching about the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution Center on campus through social media networking
- Help host events with the AANAPISI team
- Created daily power point slides containing:
       Upcoming events (on and off campus)
       Drop-in Tutor Sessions
       Visiting hours for Advising in the center
- Attended the 2nd Annual Asians Collaborating Together leadership conference in April established by the Asian Coalition for Equality at the University of Washington campus

- Attended the AANAPISI staff field trip to the Wing Luke Museum to learn more about the exploration of shaping up Asian cultures and their development in the Northwest region
