I have now made a decision to fully immerse myself within the world of tech. I am currently in the process of finishing an iOS development bootcamp at Lighthouse Labs after which I plan to gain employment in a progressive and exciting environment where I can continue to hone my skills and become the best developer I can be.

iOS Development Immersive

I am completing and excelling in a two month developer bootcamp focused on iOS development. During these two months I have worked on countless different assignments that were designed to give me a thorough understanding of all the most essential aspects of iOS development. I have also completed two major projects during this time, an app for the reforestation industry as well as the Lunchtime app. Please see below for details.

Bachelor of Science in Forest Sciences

I successfully completed one semester of a science degree at UBC. Although the subject matter was compelling, I ultimately decided to call it quits after one semester to pursue an interest in technology. I realized that I would be able to achieve my goals much faster this way than if I were to spend the next several years at university.

Foreperson and First Aid Attendant

I have been planting trees as my main profession for a decade. Although I have decided to expand my skillset and venture out into new and exciting territory, I will always value the lessons I've learned while planting over half a million trees in the vast landscapes of northern Canada. I would not have developed the work ethic and the sense of camaraderie that I now bring with me to every new project. I spent the last 3 years of my planting career as a foreperson, managing up to 12 planters at a time. I was able to develop my skills as a respectful and tolerant communicator in the most extreme of environments. The last 2 years I was also the First Aid Attendant for a camp of about 50 people. This added a whole other dimension of responsibility in which I learned to thrive. The communal aspect of the experience is what I cherish most and is what I hope to bring with me in any workplace I may find myself in the future.

Customer Service Representative

I worked as a a customer service representative for Bitcoiniacs. Most of my job entailed attending Vancouver's first bitcoin ATM and explaining the technology to existing and potential customers. This was my first real exposure to the world of tech. I took it upon myself to fully understand the mechanisms behind bitcoin. In doing so, I came to appreciate the incredible miracle of modern technology as a whole. I also gained a strong respect for the thrills and challenges of startup culture.

BC Forest Safety Council

Basic Chainsaw Operator

Successfully completed a two day course which taught me the basics of chainsaw maintenance and operation.

Care Institute of Safety and Health Inc.

Successfully completed a two week course in occupational first aid.

Throughout the course of the last few months, I've spent countless hours working on various assignments in an attempt to better understand the many different aspects of iOS development that are essential to grasp if one expects to be an effective developer. The apps with which I have spent the most time would be Lunchtime and Treeplanter. Lunchtime is currently being prepared to push to the app store and I am currently in the process of introducing the Treeplanter app to the reforestation industry.

I have always been an avid reader and I am involved in an ongoing project to contribute as much as I can to the human body of knowledge.
