• Coordinated the work of 50 researchers, writers and editors for The Buying of the President 2004, a 125,000-word book that profiled all the candidates for the White House and investigated the financial interests that influence them. In addition to supervising the book, wrote two of its chapters as a senior writer.
• Created and managed LobbyWatch project – an online Web site that couples regular investigative stories with a 2.5 million-record database detailing all federal lobbying.
• Oversaw all editorial products for “Outsourcing the Pentagon”: an award-winning investigation into all DOD contracts between FY 1998 and FY 2003.
• Supervised and directed all general assignment stories involving federal politics as the Center’s Political Accountability Reports editor including campaign coverage, campaign finance reform and lobbying.
• As political editor, worked as a spokesman for the Center to the media appearing on many national networks including ABC, NBC and CNN. The position led to being a guest on NPR’s “Fresh Air,” C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” and to being quoted by hundreds of publications.
• Designed, supervised and edited an award-winning project about Superfund sites and the environment that used computer- assisted reporting from more than a dozen databases on contract procurement, grants, hazardous waste sites and federal fines.
• Wrotemultiple project proposals for which the Center received funding.

• Co-authored a book investigating the state legislatures called Capital Offenders. Wrote four of the chapters detailing financial interests affecting banking, the environment, sports and citizen-based legislation. The book won the 2002 IRE national book award.
• Wrote a dozen investigative stories for the 50 States Project: a two-year study investigating the outside influences of campaign contributions, personal financial holdings and lobbying on state lawmakers, which won the 2001 IRE Online award.
