A new graduate of an Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing (ABSN) program from Anderson University, Anderson, SC. While attending Anderson I was selected by the dean and faculty to receive the Palmetto Gold Nursing scholarship. I was also elected as class representative which allowed me to serve in a leadership role as a student
In addition to clinical rotations during nursing school I have practiced as a certified athletic trainer for thirteen years. I believe that this clinical experience in orthopedics makes me a more desirable candidate than the traditional entry level nursing student. In addition to the completion of my second bachelor’s degree in nursing I also have a master’s degree in athletic training. Completion of this master's degree required conducting and presenting research in the educational setting of sports medicine.
I have worked in multiple sports medicine departments, in the highly competitive setting of NCAA division one athletics, which required the ability to assess acute injury and make medical decisions in a high stress environment. This experience also required communication and decision making with an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals.
