Experience

Marketing Strategy

I have more than ten years of marketing strategy experience on both the agency and client side, working with a diverse group of successful organizations like Ivy Tech Community College, Do it Best Corp., Parkview Health, Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Eddie Merlot’s, Elkhart General Hospital, and Manchester College. My understanding of the changes in the industry that are affecting both old and new media allows me to provide relevant, actionable recommendations that elicit a response from the target audience. I have a firm understanding of the different facets of marketing, including advertising, public relations, promotion, and product development, and experience in deploying integrated strategies that leverage the appropriate tools and resources. In today’s crowded, chaotic media environment, an idea needs to stand out in order to get noticed. The strategies I develop are designed to do just that.

Writing

I began my career as a writer, and writing remains one of my strongest skills. I begin by understanding the purpose of any given piece, and the audience and medium for which it is intended, and execute accordingly. I believe my conversational, unique writing style allows my work to cut through the clutter. My goal is to be as concise as possible, while providing the precise meaning needed to convey an idea. It’s writing designed to be read--and acted upon.

Public Speaking and Training

Presenting in front of a group, in a classroom or elsewhere, is one of my true passions. It’s also an opportunity that I approach with respect for the audience’s needs and diligence in making sure the experience is rewarding for everyone in the room. I have presented in the classroom at Indiana Tech and Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), as a guest speaker at Taylor University, as a panelist for the Northeast Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, as a session facilitator at the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana Leadership Institute and for Leadership Kokomo, and at events hosted by the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Area Association of REALTORS, the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, Ivy Tech Community College and Do it Best Corp. I come to my presentations prepared, with a great deal of energy, and with a desire to facilitate an interactive conversation, instead of just delivering a monologue. I also understand the potential of PowerPoint and the Internet as presentation media, going well beyond templates to design visuals that are truly engaging. (See column at right for a complete list of my past presentation topics.)

Account Supervisor/PR Manager

Asher Agency

I'm a marketing and social media strategist, helping my clients find an audience, craft a message, and then connect the two. I'm not beholden to one strategy: my goal is to find the best solution, whether that's a Facebook page, a news release, or a TV spot. I'm also a writer, working on everything from six-word billboard headlines to 6,000 word feature articles. The industries in which I have the most expertise include higher education, healthcare, and professional services.
