Graduates will be prepared to teach technology applications, use technology to support student learning of subject-area content, and provide professional development, mentoring, and basic technical and instructional assistance to other professional educators.

Mentored at-risk students in secondary school and tutored in core subjects and educated them on proper study methods. Taught valuable skills such as creating short and long-term goals. Created a junior/senior resource booklet containing information on the college admissions process and career choices.

Technology Applications

Cotulla Independent School District

Manage classroom coverage of 9-12 grade technology applications; assume all responsibilities of a classroom teacher including lesson plan development, professional development, assessments of students and staff meetings. Maintained the Smartlab, studio and video production rooms. Provide fundamental learning for students that aligned with the TEKS for digital graphics, web mastering, animation, and video production and advanced video production.

§Provided teacher training on digital storytelling and how to implement it in the core curriculum.

§Researched and implemented various core class lessons utilizing technology.

§Implemented various student-centered learning methodologies.

§Created a student business model in which students become their own boss and formed companies. This has resulted in a two-day anti-bullying campaign run by an event planning company and a motivational speaking group that will complete their first assignment by visiting the middle school for a day.

§Collaborated with students to create the first high school magazine and newspaper.

§Launched an after school help program for seniors in need of help with applications for college, financial aid and work.

Math Interventionist

Cotulla ISD

Responsible for creating alternative methods to teach students math and test taking strategies. Worked primarily with “at-risk” youth and students that underperformed in the previous TAKS testing year.

Responsibilities included:

§Analyzing the student’s previous TAKS scores and identifying the weaknesses

§Maintaining student workbooks and notes sections

§Managing a running list of students working with and tracking their progress

§Pre and post assessments
