About Adjua Starks

With law and academic administrative experience spanning more than two decades, Adjua Starks most recently served as assistant dean of pre-health advising and academic assistance at Barnard College in New York City. In this role, Adjua Starks engaged with students regarding their applications to health professional schools and helped them gain admittance to schools, in many instances, the health professional school of their choice. She played an integral role in setting in place an online platform for the Barnard College tutoring program and launched the school’s first pre-health website.

Ms. Starks also has extensive experience with New York Law School’s Department of Professional Development, serving as public interest coordinator and associate director for eight years. Her responsibilities with the Office of Career Services emphasized providing students and alumni with timely and relevant information on professional opportunities. She spearheaded an expansion of the law school's Public Interest Fellowship Program and increased student and alumni involvement in public interest law panels.

A community supporter, Adjua Starks maintains an active role with the Bridge Street AME Church and has held appointed leadership positions that helped ensure the well-being of church members. Ms. Starks also sings with the church’s Praise and Worship Ensemble and has done so for a number of years.
