Summary

I'm a full-stack developer at Simpleweb where we specialise in building startups. I joined as a front-end developer and shortly after fell in love with Ruby on Rails and Mobile application development.

I've also been the main organiser of Bristol JS since May 2012 where we hold monthly JavaScript talks and occasionally workshops and have also been involved organising, supporting or mentoring at various other tech event such as Bath Ruby, Bristol Ruby User Group, Rails Kids, Rails Girls, Nodeschool and hack events. I love teaching programming which led me to do some lecturing a music technology module at Bath College.

Over the last 6 or so years, I’ve done dozens of talks various technical topics at local meetups and have been a speaker at Bristech, Reasons to be creative and Bath Ruby conferences.

Lastly, I love to bring my programming knowledge into the real-world with hardware such as iBeacons, drones, robotics and lasers.

Web Developer

Simpleweb

Simpleweb has given me the unique opportunity to work across lots of different projects across many different platforms, workflows and software stacks over various points of the growth of a product. It has put me in a great position to have a broad knowledge to develop good decisions to fulfil both technical and business requirements.

During my time at Simpleweb I have taken on technical ownership of several of our internal, spinout and client products.

DUO

For a couple of years after leaving university I worked at a fashion brand called DUO. I learnt to build a multilingual retail site crafted to the high quality that was expected of us. During a rebrand, I was tasked to develop the front-end. This still influences my workflow today and I believe strongly in style-guides to manage technical debt and retain front-end consistency, flexibility and robustness throughout the life of a product.
