Currently a co-portfolio manager for a Chicago, Illinois-based investment firm, Adam Abbas earned an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago and a BS in industrial engineering from Northwestern University. He completed Northwestern’s five-year Cooperative Engineering Program, which included internship rotations with multiple companies in diverse industries. As an intern at Matrix Capital Advisors, Adam Abbas created spreadsheets for recording risk and return measures and helped produce a database for monthly reporting of client information.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Abbas served with Neuberger Berman as a financial analyst for the Leveraged Loan and High Yield Group at the firm’s Chicago office. There, he evaluated investments in the technology, telecommunications, and media fields. While an analyst for Lehman Brothers, he conducted long-only credit research across multiple business sectors that involved evaluations such as scenario analysis and sum-of-the-parts models. Adam Abbas worked earlier in his career as a junior analyst for Lightpoint Capital, LLC, where he carried out underwriting analysis for loans to be placed in a collateralized loan obligation vehicle. To assess technology, media, and telecommunications companies, he examined such factors as integrity of balance sheets and projected future cash flows.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Abbas maintains an interest in architectural design and participates in recreational soccer and volleyball leagues. He also enjoys international travel and has recently visited cities in France, Spain, and Turkey.
