Master Cannabis Cultivator and Sales

Cannabis Business

My cannabis education is unique and a long story. It all started when I was a junior in high school. Growing up in Lake Tahoe CA, I was exposed to the best cannabis that Humbolt, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Los Angeles had to offer. Smelling and tasting all the unique buds and learning how different genetics smell. My growing experience started shortly after completing high school and deciding to pursue cannabis growing as a side job. At this time there were no schools involved in teaching, so it was much trial and error. During the course of time I tried and succeeded in other careers from recording engineering to real estate,  but growing was always my passion. This was not always a career to focus on however. California has had medical laws since 1997 but even when I left California in 2011, federal intervention was always a huge looming risk, which is why I was always perusing other careers. During the time after high school in 2002 up to 2006 I always had a grow of some kind running. I have used and ran every different growing system and root media attached to it.  Mediums including soil/perlite, rock-wool, coco, peat-moss, and aerated water. Feeding systems including hand feed, flood and drain, Ebb & flow, aeroponic, deep water culture, and drain to waste, and recently drain recapture systems. In Los Angeles in 2006 was the year when I decided to take the risk and make this my full time career. At my first dispensary the owner actually opened the first dispensary in San Fransisco on 1997, which meant he had deep ties to the cannabis industry at the time, which were some of the first people to train me. Very large scale growers came to that dispensary every week bringing in every strain that you could imagine, and I was exposed to every strain that the world had to offer. I learned to smell and ID every genetic possible, and with the help of these master growers of the time, we built a commercial grow. After working at that facility for a good ammount of time, learning everything I could from these true industry experts, taking hundreds of clones every day, taking care of the plants and monitoring all the environmental systems, bud tending, managing inventory, managing staff, basically running the facility, I decided to branch out and start my own business. A friend of mine and I launched www.growsetup.com around 2008. Through this business I consulted hundreds of small growers and learned from several large growers in the Los Angeles area. I also learned much of the hydroponic store ownership and growing practices during this time. This is the time I got to experiment with every different lighting brand and type on the market from all the brands carried by Sunlight supply, Hydrofarm, nano lux, P.L. , Gavita, and many others. I implemented every different grow room device possible such as lighting controllers, hygrometers, ph and ec meters, inline fans, carbon and ozone filters. I consulted in design over 50 unique and different grows. During this time I also worked as an operating partner at Greenlight Hydroponics and Sunwest Hydroponics in the San Fernando valley. This time in hydroponic store owner ship is when I acquired most of my knowledge. Being exposed and trained on every piece of indoor growing hardware and nutrient on the market combined with thousands of consulting visits furthered my education. In 2011 I decided to expand the operations leaving the overcrowded dangerous market of California and expand to Arizona, opening up Greenlight Hydroponics in Scottsdale. The store did very well the first year, and under the states caregiver model, i had plenty of customers and clients. Looking into the future of Arizona, knowing the laws would eventually eliminate the independent grower, I turned to dispensary license holders to further my career. I did apply for licenses, but unfortunately did not win one, so I closed my hydroponic store and went independent working as a grower. Since then I have furthered my education into greenhouse and large agricultural solutions for growing cannabis. I have learned and practiced with nutrient dosing systems such as Argus and priva, climate control computer and new HVAC systems and chiller systems, and commercial fertilizers. I have learned how to handle and type of problem than can come up safley and effectively. I have handled pests of all variety and mold of all variety. All my knowledge over these last 10 years has lead to myself being a pillar of the marijuana community and keeping a good name and reputation with all my past partners and employers. I have only left and operation for a better challenge and better opportunity, never by choice of anyone else.
