Summary

I am a Senior Instructional Systems Designer specializing in creating online training using the most appropriate evidence-based learning theories, along with graphic design tools and principles that have been proven to make learning more effective and memorable.

My proven results have kept clients and instructors coming back with more projects and training requests. In addition to other achievements, I was awarded the DHA Team Excellence Award in 2017 for helping complete a team project which saved the government $294,000 annually by converting five classroom training courses to narrated online modules.

Oversee the design, conversion, development and deployment of USAFSAM courses to the Med+Learn and Blackboard distributed learning environments.
Perform all facets of Instructional Systems Design including front-end analysis, objective writing, and selection of assessment methodologies, course design, rapid prototyping, courseware development and evaluations to measure student learning and course effectiveness. Also ensure courseware compliance with current DoD, USAF and industry standard training guidance.

Provide educational expertise to USAFSAM, Air Force, and DoD customers in the development of Course Training Standards (CTS), educational plans, curriculum design documents, and automated assessment tools; Work closely with project-assigned subject matter experts (SMEs) and division-level leadership to ensure training curriculum aligns with stipulated Air Force, DoD, and career-field needs.

Manage the information, technology, and system aspects of courseware design, development, and implementation. Administrative activities include accurately preparing style guides, electronic storyboards, job aids, and student study guides. Possess extensive organizational skills, the ability to work independently, outstanding communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Office knowledge including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Coordinate content, alpha, and beta reviews with customers, and obtain the required approvals for final course delivery. Provide guidance during the validation phase of all eLearning courses; this validation is designed to ensure the courses meet the stated objectives, achieve the required proficiency levels, and effectively trains the targeted audience.

Create and maintain other ADL courses including:

  • Base Operational Medical Cell (BOMC) Training courses,
  • Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL) Institutional Review Board (IRB) Annual Training,
  • Laser Safety Officer (LSO) training,
  • Aerospace and Operational Physiology Craftsman Course (AOPC),
  • Nalaxone (NARCAN) Training for military medics (~3500 learners monthly),
  • Flight Officer Medical Technician (FOMT) and FOMT Bridge courses,
  • Transgender Training for AFRC Medics and AD MTFs
  • Enhanced First Responder Training,
  • First Receiver Awareness Training,
  • Emergency Support Function-8 (ESF-8) training course,
  • USAFSAM Initial Instructor Methodology Course (I2MC).

Also develop story boards, assist in production of video and audio, and address SCORM and LMS delivery compatibility issues, as well as perform research, development, and feasibility studies for applying emerging instructional technology to meet the requirements of eLearning delivery.

Additional Program Support

  • Created a 3D interactive Tox-Box Kit presentation for use internationally which is also being used by the FAA for international training.
  • Developed digital signage map interactions for entrances of the USAFSAM facility using Flash AS3.
  • Collaborated with interns from Wright State University in the creation of a 3D simulation game for CCAT medical students, assisting with instructional design for the simulation of an infusion pump.
  • Participated in beta-testing new ADLS Med+Learn LMS, loading test courses, and implementing solutions to current limitations.
  • Coordinated alpha and beta reviews of I2MC, FOMT, AOPC and LSO courses.
  • Assisted other IDs in creating instructional design, graphics and programming for other ADL courses including SAPR, CPM, HAZCOM, DECS, and AOPC.
  • Developed 3D graphics of Wright-Patterson Medical Center Intensive Care Unit telemetry station, ambit PCA drug self-administration delivery device, IVAC Infusion pump, ProPaq and Univent 731 monitors.
  • Distributed Instructional Design articles and journals to coworkers and assisted in in-service training presentations to the ADL staff.

Instructional Designer / OSHA Safety Analyst

  • Developed and administered interactive training programs: programmed interactions and created graphics for pilots and others company-wide; distributed via CD, intranet, Learn.com LMS and classroom training. 
  • Worked directly with printing companies: Designed booklets and brochures for four-color printing, including die-cut and embossing. Also hand crafted professional quality displays, exhibits and booklets using traditional materials. 
  • Managed graphics Interns: Assigned daily tasks and monitored work progress and quality. Provided professional mentoring and design guidance. 
  • Saved the company thousands of dollars: Developed a series of Flight Simulation approach modules for pilots using free Google Earth software and scripting language similar to systems costing thousands from retail companies. My modules allowed pilots to visualize an airport approach in 3D with an air route map overlaying nearby terrain. 
  • Certified OSHA Safety Analyst: Assumed OSHA Safety Analyst role in addition to my other duties, completing the OSHA 511 and 30 hour courses, becoming familiar with OSHA regulations and performing safety inspections. Also performed hearing tests for the company as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist.

  • Prepared presentations and printed materials for the company’s CEO and upper-level executives, and assisted the Advertising and Visual departments with in-store signage and video presentations for a national fashion retailer chain of 100+ stores. 
  • Produced 3D animation, illustrations, titles, credits, and theme music for a 20 minute video newsletter distributed monthly to a company-wide audience of 30,000 employees, while maintaining three presentation rooms and a fully equipped multimedia studio.
