English 9 Teacher: Employment at this job is still ongoing.  Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities for ninth grade English.  Foster critical thinking and help engage students in creating connections between literature and society.  Conduct instruction on college level composition, from creative writing and poetry to research and argumentative essays.  Provide feedback to students and communicate clearly and effectively any expectations while also providing continuous feedback with parents on the progress of their child.

Performed a wide array of IT related work as a contractor for various companies and organizations around Hawaii.  Job sites included the following:

HMSA Desktop Management Services: Provided frontline support  by providing applications packaging and testing  to support an organization-wide Windows 7 upgrade.  Ensured packaged software was tested,  configured and pushed out to end users through VMWare and SCCM.  Communicated with individual users and department heads to ascertain software needs.  Coordinated with department liaisons to address any outstanding software compatibility issues with the Win7 upgrade and communicating such needs clearly and concisely between department liaisons and DMS management.  Contributed to critical decision making in adjusting workflow processes in both the applications packaging phase, coordinating with liaisons, as well as actual re-imaging of the physical computers themselves.  

Hawaii State Department of Education/DOE Schools Project:  Performed network technician duties as a member of a network cut-over team with the DOE Schools Project.  Configured, programmed, installed, troubleshot, and tested Cisco network infrastructure equipment, including network switches, routers, wireless access points, and fiber optic and copper cabling in DOE schools, statewide.  Configured and ensured that all computer assets with wireless capabilities, from laptops and desktops to tablets, had the proper SSID and passwords.  Troubleshot any network connectivity issues, mapped printers, and ensured that all web servers, Meal Trackers, and Lotus Notes servers integrated seamlessly into the new IP scheme.   Prepared documentation to present to the school's Technical Coordinator on the work that was completed and communicated clearly with end users and Technical Coordinator about any issues requiring a technical solution.

Participated also in a Unified Communications team on the same project, which involved cutting over DOE schools statewide from telephone based services to IP telephony.  Installed and configured IP phones, cabling, and conducted appropriate programming on Cisco networking equipment.

Central Pacific Bank Tech Support:  Performed routine end-user servicing of desktops, including installation of hardware and hardware components, remote installation of software applications, and configuring Cisco Zero Clients.

Hawaii Air National Guard

As a Staff Sergeant in the Hawaii Air National Guard, duties included leading teams of airmen to troubleshoot network and end user desktop issues both over the phone and in the field.  Troubleshoot and map network printers, network connectivity issues, desktop and other hardware components.  Resolved operating system errors, hard drive imaging, and handled breaches in information security practices.

As a junior non-commissioned officer, was appointed as the night shift work center lead in a forward deployed environment that managed a 13k+ user network on both classified and unclassified systems.

Installed and maintained network cabling (fiber and copper), as well as patch panels, routers, and switches.  Maintained and set up outdoor antenna arrays while conducting routine maintenance as well as troubleshooting services for ground to air radio equipment and Land Mobile Radios.

Created work schedules and prepared weekly reports and briefings on work center status to section chiefs and officers in the chain of command as well as manage the REMEDY trouble ticket system.

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities in the use of modern English grammar and the five paragraph essay to over 100 at risk youth/high school drop out students per semester in an alternative learning environment.  Prepared lesson plans and curricula to facilitate active learning experiences and document student progress.  Conducted individual counseling sessions, including crisis level counseling as well as anger management.  Mediated conflicts between students and deescalate violent/potentially violent situations. 

Conducted monthly evaluations of students in terms of overall behavior and classroom performance. Spearheaded a project to develop a partnership between YCA and John A Burns School of Medicine to bring psychiatric students to conduct therapy and counseling to Youth Challenge cadets in exchange for internship hours.

● Eng 775: Graduate seminar focused on globalization and politics, examining economic and ethical concerns that arise in a rapidly industrializing and outsourcing world.
● Eng 772: Graduate seminar focused on Native Hawaiian history and politics in Hawaii told through the lens of Native Hawaiian literature. Also focused on decolonization and indigenous sovereignty issues.
