Al-Watania Plastics (WP)  consists of seven plastics production plants located in Riyadh with sales offices in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Abha and agents in different countries in MENA, with SR 700 millions turnover.

Al-Watania Plastics (WP) is the biggest  business strategic units in Al-Watania For Industries (WFI) group .

Work description:

  • Strategic planning (vision, mission and 5 years plan) setting.
  • All financial performance aspects.
  • Functionally management of Supply chain management (purchasing, transportation/ shipping and warehousing), Manufacturing (operation and maintenance), Total quality Management, Sales and Marketing, and Business development. In addition to Safety, Finance and Human resources.

 

  • Growth in sales was 32% since 2011 using same facility, achieved by improving efficiency, sales and marketing

Al-Watania For Paper Products (WPP)

Al-Watania For Paper Products company (WPP)  is one of Al-Watania For Industries (WFI) group SBUs, WPP consists of two Corrugated factories in Riyadh and Jeddah plus one Egg trays factory in Riyadh, it is one of the biggest two corrugating factories in MENA region with SR 450 millions turnover.

Duties / Achievements

 

  • Strategic planning (vision, mission and 5 years plan) setting.
  • Responsible for all financial performance aspects.
  • Functionally management of Supply chain management (purchasing, transportation/ shipping and warehousing), Manufacturing (operation and maintenance), Total quality Management, Sales and Marketing, and Business Development. In addition to Safety, Finance and Human resources.

Project manager of Ethylene Glycol plant 4 (3rd expansion), CAPEX of the project was around SAR 3 billions.

 

Work description

  • Managing multinational team during detailed Engineering, procurement and construction stages.
  • Detail Engineering work of all disciplines.
  • All project procedures (Safety, Quality, Control, Procurement, Construction, ….)
  • Cost control and optimization.
  • Actual Procurement activities for all type of Equipment and Materials.
  • Construction work at site (Safety, quality, project specifications and schedule)
  • Ensuring compliance with SABIC standards and international codes during all projects stages.

 

With the support of PMT (mixed from SABIC and UK Foster Wheeler) and EPC company (Samsung Engineering Company) ; the project was completed on time for OOK and two months ahead of base schedule for IK with the highest possible level of Safety, Quality and Standard compliance. In addition, business case for which the CAPEX was invested has been satisfied.

  • EGM dept. consists of the followings sections:
    • Mechanical maintenance section.
    • Electrical maintenance section.
    • Instrumentation maintenance section.
    • Workshop and tool room section.

 

Among what has been done (major):

  • Execute all 2005 turnaround maintenance activities (TAM) as TAM manager safely and ahead of time.
  • Lead a committee to review and update “maintenance key performance indicators” for the whole company.
  • Among all other managers in SHARQ, I was selected as the best manager for that period.

Acting Reliability Department Manager

  • Managing all department activities and lead the department towards its mission/targets.
  • I led the department during FANAR project implementation, which was one of the most critical tasks that company had ever experienced.
  • Updating of all dept. procedures due to FANAR implementation, and manage to execute these changes smoothly. (Changing of procedures involved and influenced many dept’s. such as maintenance and operation depts.)
  • leading Ideas proposal (IP) evaluation team in the company.

  • Reliability dept. consists of the following sections:
    • Inspection section.
    • Planning section.
    • Mechanical technical studies section.
    • Instrumentation technical studies section.
    • Electrical technical studies section.

** during this assignment, I designed a very powerful program (named: Technical Study Management System; TSMS) to manage all technical studies in the company, in term of following: progress of studies, progress of all countermeasures implementation, reminders, and evaluating of all studies; the program gives many useful reports for technical teams and managements, the same solved one of chronic problems in the company where most of very valuable recommendations were ended in files without a tool to follow up their effectiveness and implementations.

The program is known –now- in some of SABIC affiliates and many of them have communicated with us to purchase it

Section head (Chief Engineer ) of Inspection Section.

Work description:

  • Establishing new inspection section with two groups (NDT and CCM).
  • Defining responsibilities and duties, generating Section ISO procedure, defining requirements (Manpower and resources) and work to satisfy those requirements.
  • Hiring and training of new Saudi non-Saudi Engineers and technicians.
  • Updating all old inspection tools.
  • Managing all inspection section's routine activities and leading the team during all turnaround maintenances.
  • Heavily participating in building up the new Reliability Program in SHARQ.

Among what have been done (major):

  • training and qualification of all inspection staff (all NDT members are qualified at least for level II in all NDTs, and CCM are level I qualified).
  • Introduce new inspection software of pipes thinness as 1st company in SABIC to use it, now six affiliates are using the same.
  • Define the criticality and data survey frequency of all P/L in the company, and survey thickness of all critical pipelines in the company and take the proper measures whenever is required.
  • Establish PdM (predictive maintenance) as a new maintenance program for rotating equipment, by using company criticality matrix and introducing many condition monitoring techniques such as:
    • Vibration monitoring and analysis.
    • Oil analysis system.
    • Motor current system.

  • Participation in preparation of equipment criticality matrix by leading of the teams.
  • Handling the responsibility of another section (mechanical technical studies section) in addition to inspection section for more than 1 year.
  • In addition to my normal duties: I was in charge of implementing formal RCM/RBI in the company with taking support of well known consultation company.
  • I was selected as the best section head for the year 2003 (it was the 1st year to have such award). 

- During this assignment; I have been selected as a member in the newly formed SABIC Change Agents Network; main task of this team is to manage/exchange the new and challenging ideas in the whole SABIC organization

- Certified as Vibration Specialist level II from Vibration Institute (USA),  as first one to get this certificate in SABIC and 2nd in Saudi Arabia. I used to be one of only 35 certified people all over the world
