My duties as program manager include:

  • Developing and implementing the recruitment, training and testing process for contract interpreters
  • Managing program grant funds and activities
  • Managing program staff and contract interpreters
  • Coordinating interpreter requests
  • Developing and implementing a marketing plan for the Interpreter Service
  • Organizing community outreach/awareness events on language access and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Translator

My position as translator included the following responsibilities:

  • Interpretation, translation and translation editing
  • Interviewing and/or evaluating potential consultant translators and interpreters
  • Coordinating a team of 10+ consultant translators, interpreters, and agencies
  • Receiving, assigning, and completing requests for translations and interpreters
  • Evaluating and training multilingual PVUSD staff that serve as interpreters (NCICH Standards used)
  • Training staff on: utilizing translation and interpreter services, working with the LEP community, requirements of Title VI and the Corrective Action Agreement, other topics related to language and culture
  • Creating fliers, website information and other materials for PVUSD staff on accessing translation and interpreter services and working with the LEP community

I currently consult for the PVUSD and assist with interpreter training sessions.
