In 2014 I successfully completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts ( Communication and Design). Throughout my studies I undertook units that focused on building Graphic Design and Marketing skills. I completed a broad range of subjects including Branding, Consumerism and Advertisement, Photography, Journalism and Painting. In 2014 I completed an internship at MI Fellowship in the Graphic Design and Marketing department. My duties were to create marketing and event collateral to build rapport with existing and future clients. During the internship I learned how to create “Print Ready” marketing content in a timely and professional manner. I gained experience working within a team environment and had the opportunity to work independently on projects. I acquired time management skills and was able to work diligently between multiple projects at any given time.
Research, editing, writing and proof-reading skills – especially in regard to digital content.
During University I completed subjects that developed my skills in proof-reading, editing, writing. I was required to submit research folios with each final assignment. The folios comprised all supporting information regarding the target audience and research that brought me to my final design. I gained a strong appreciation for importance of understanding the specific demographic and how to convey an idea to the target audience.
I undertook subjects in Advertisement and Consumerism that introduced me to modern technologies and social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Linked In. I learned strategies to engage with online audiences while keeping up with current social trends as social media is a fast and effective way to communicate with a broad audience in an instant.
High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all work produced.
While studying numerous tutors instilled the idea that there is always room for improvement and the importance of revising your work continuously until you have achieved the best possible outcome. I have a keen eye for detail and work meticulously when designing. I have great competence in setting up and exporting files for both print and web media to ensure the highest level of resolution, clarity and accuracy is retained for each different platform.
Ability to build relationships and advise key internal stakeholders.
Working in a sales and administrative role at Plush Sofas I have learned strong communication skills. I currently work in a role that requires me to build interpersonal relationship with customers both face to face and over the phone. I thoroughly enjoy working in a team environment and pride myself in maintaining friendly and professional relationships with all my colleagues.
Ability to grow and engage audiences on social media
Social media is ever changing with the consumer wanting fast and instant information without the hassle of sourcing information themselves. I have a strong knowledge of the current social media trends and how to appeal to specific target audiences using witty, informative and engaging captions. I use social media in my day to day life and with a great appreciation for graphic design and marketing I follow numerous professional accounts to gain a strong understanding of what other companies are doing to engage their target audience.
Ability to take quality photographs and video clips
During University I completed subjects in Photography and Media. I have a sound knowledge of both manual and automatic cameras and currently own a Canon PowerShot s120 Camera. While working with MI Fellowship I accompanied the Graphic Design team on numerous photoshoots. Working with the photographer, I gained an understanding of correct lighting, subject placement and how to create an overall desirable photograph.
A working knowledge of content management systems and social media platforms.
While completing my University degree I gained competent skills in different social media platforms and an understanding of how each are used to convey a message to the target audience. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are all excellent social media platforms where one is able to present information and inspiration to a broad range of people. A great aspect on social media networks that I have become familiar with is that they allow instant feedback from the audience and create a platform for communication and discussion. I believe this has great potential to engage audiences.
